@rnostardently I always watch this film on repeat while I'm in labour, for some reason it helps reduce pain for me. Oxytocin perhaps? It is a masterpiece. I love the 90s version too and of course the book ๐ฅฐ
@BowtiedQueenBee I like seeing this optimistic perspective, thank you. Love this stage of young kids but I already feel anxious that I'm not fully appreciating and savouring it enough.
At its core, The Lord of the Rings is a story about holding on to hope when everything is utterly despairing. This is ultimately why it resonates with us, and generation after generation fall in love with it, I believe. It speaks to us now in these times deeply.
@makebelieveleaf@CartoonsHateHer It's weird they think about us at all honestly. I don't recall ever noticing whatever 30-40 yr olds were wearing when we were young.
@HannahWardEdu Hannah you can take photos of your collection and have AI catalogue them all for you in a spreadsheet. This is how I maintain the registry of my home library.
@Dogsandsailors1 I remember watching the footage in my tiny rural New Zealand primary school - over 14000 kilometres from New York. The shock waves rippled all the way round the world. We were all DEVASTATED for America. All the adults were in tears. I still cry every year.
@Avonleebythesea I was out at a ladies' gathering last night and someone asked what "muse" meant (it was a shade of lipstick they were looking at) so I explained then quoted the first line of The Odyssey. They were intrigued, "WOW what was that from!?" Had never heard of Homer ๐
@SunnyComb000@jonathandalecki@bnuuyhopper Books said muggle technology goes "haywire" around high concentrations of magic so nothing works at Hogwarts. Otherwise they'd be able to write with ballpoint pens instead of quills presumably.
@BurnerBarbieUSA My parents did the same. But then all day I was cared for by well-rested, sane, loving, attentive parents so maybe it was better than the alternative. I didn't let mine cry but then also got crazy sleep deprivation ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ I think everyone is mostly just doing the best they can.
