The Amani Pamoja Partnership and Youth Exchange continues to bring together young leaders whose diverse experiences are shaping more peaceful, inclusive, and resilient communities. Today, we are pleased to introduce four more participants joining us in Mombasa.

🌍 Sharon Kiptoo represents the End Femicide Kenya Movement, where she serves as the North Rift Chapter Coordinator. A medical doctor, researcher, and gender advocate, Sharon advances peace through gender justice, health advocacy, and youth leadership. Her work mobilizes communities and amplifies survivors' voices.

🌍 Mariangela Panico represents Associazione Culturale Usamborgia (Italy) as a Project Coordinator and Partnership Outreach Specialist. Passionate about international cooperation and intercultural dialogue, she coordinates youth exchanges and collaborative initiatives that foster inclusion, mutual understanding, and a culture of peace through non-formal education.

🌍 Esha Mohammed Abdallah represents Swahilipot Hub Foundation (Kenya), where she serves as Project Manager. A youth advocate, educator, and founder of @hernarrativeke , Esha champions youth leadership, gender equality, and meaningful participation in governance.

🌍 Anton Rubanenko represents Elysium+, the international youth organization he founded to promote civic engagement, peacebuilding, and democratic participation. A Ukrainian youth leader and social entrepreneur, Anton draws on his experience of displacement to advocate for European cooperation, youth leadership, and inclusive societies where young people play an active role in shaping democratic futures.

We are excited to announce the upcoming Partnership and Youth Exchange workshop under the Amani Pamoja Initiative, co-funded by the @EU_Commission through the @EUErasmusPlus Programme which will take place between 14th - 18th July, 2026 in Mombasa.

🌎The workshop will bring together 24 youth leaders from six countries across Europe and Africa, representing organizations working in peacebuilding. It aims to foster a learning partnership, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and document good practices in peacebuilding, with a particular focus on advancing the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda.

The exchange is being hosted by Prospect Initiative in partnership with @LamuYouth, @cyd_zanzibar, Peace Up, @catvoluntaria, and @agencypb.

Last weekend, we joined a mentorship session by @hernarrativeke, a subgrantee under the #MYPOA project funded by @popconnect on menstrual hygiene management.

Participants dove deep into menstraul management and even explored engaging Fishbowl discussions on pressing issues.

A Call to Action
Amina’s survival is a reminder that silence can be deadly. Communities, law enforcement, and policymakers must work together to protect women from gender-based violence. If you suspect someone is in danger, speak up. No woman should have to face femicide alone.

Amina’s story is one of many. In Kenya, femicide cases are rising, yet many women remain trapped due to stigma, economic dependence, and fear. Organizations like @hernarrativeke are empowering women through mentorship , helping them identify & escape toxic environments.

The next day, Kevin was arrested, but the battle for justice was far from over, She faced pressure to drop the case, but she refused. With support from women’s rights organizations and counseling, she found the strength to heal. Today, she mentors young women in Mombasa...

Inching toward the window. The moment his grip loosened, she grabbed a chair and smashed the glass. The noise alerted neighbors, who rushed to her aid. Startled, Kevin fled before they could intervene.

Amina, bleeding from a deep cut, was rescued and taken to safety....

The Night of Terror: Amina had decided to leave Kevin, but he refused to let her go. That night, he locked the door and pulled out a knife. “You are mine,” he growled.Knowing she had to act fast, Amina pretended to calm him down. “Let’s talk,” she whispered,

He monitored her phone, isolated her from friends, and grew increasingly jealous. “If I can’t have you, no one else will,” he once told her.
The emotional abuse escalated into threats, but Amina convinced herself he would change. That was until one fateful night
