A Call to Action
Amina’s survival is a reminder that silence can be deadly. Communities, law enforcement, and policymakers must work together to protect women from gender-based violence. If you suspect someone is in danger, speak up. No woman should have to face femicide alone.
Amina’s story is one of many. In Kenya, femicide cases are rising, yet many women remain trapped due to stigma, economic dependence, and fear. Organizations like @hernarrativeke are empowering women through mentorship , helping them identify & escape toxic environments.
The next day, Kevin was arrested, but the battle for justice was far from over, She faced pressure to drop the case, but she refused. With support from women’s rights organizations and counseling, she found the strength to heal. Today, she mentors young women in Mombasa...
Inching toward the window. The moment his grip loosened, she grabbed a chair and smashed the glass. The noise alerted neighbors, who rushed to her aid. Startled, Kevin fled before they could intervene.
Amina, bleeding from a deep cut, was rescued and taken to safety....
The Night of Terror: Amina had decided to leave Kevin, but he refused to let her go. That night, he locked the door and pulled out a knife. “You are mine,” he growled.Knowing she had to act fast, Amina pretended to calm him down. “Let’s talk,” she whispered,
He monitored her phone, isolated her from friends, and grew increasingly jealous. “If I can’t have you, no one else will,” he once told her.
The emotional abuse escalated into threats, but Amina convinced herself he would change. That was until one fateful night

Trapped in a Toxic Relationship
Amina, a 28-year-old , thought she had found love with Kevin, a charismatic man. At first, he was caring and supportive, but over time, his behavior became controlling.

Mombasa, a city known for its beauty and vibrant culture, also struggles with the grim reality of femicide. Many women suffer in silence, but some, like Amina (not her real name), manage to escape. Her story is one of courage, resilience, and survival.

"Exciting Update: On 12th April, @csa_kenya, and we held a reflective session with high school teachers we trained last year, delving into the impact of our mentorship program on students' SRHR advocacy and self-awareness
Their feedback illuminated the most significant changes witnessed among students, highlighting their growing awareness & empowerment. As we transition phases, we're actively assessing the sustainability of these positive shifts, ensuring a lasting impact beyond the program's.
