@jordanbpeterson@petersonacademy Bless you Dr. Peterson and praying for your full recovery.
And yes, the mayor of ny is quite a sight to behold. An avatar of juvenile resentment and arrogance would be the charitable reading. Something darker, like your quote.. well there are many who oppose that spirit
@ern1337@ArtemisConsort Jesus does accept anyone who would come to Him.
Thats a matter of faith, and a relationship with God.
The post is about immigration patterns for a specific nation. Entirely separate topics, though one could say Christian immigrants would have an easier time assimilating
@ArtemisConsort Minnesota in particular has a large refugee population, Somali (primarily Muslim) and Hmong(mix of ancestral religion and Christianity)
Interesting to compare Somali immigrants vs Hmong immigrants, in terms of how both populations are navigating integrating to America
@ConcealedBones@southgrace427@Engineer_Hasn@wink1ura@NYCMayor She was talking about how the Quran has verses on killing infidels (non muslims), not specifically america itself.
The verses you mentioned are apart of the old testament/covenant. Christians adhere to the new covenant/testament, where there is a call to love your enemy
@NYCMayor Venezuela would be in a better position if socialism didn't cripple its economy. Genuinely a good thing to send help, yet a clear example of the devastating effects of socialism.
Ironic beyond words to see a socialist mayor in another country advocate for global redistribution
"Gay" and "queer" are increasingly used interchangeably in progressive discourse. But the two words don't mean the same thing. And in that difference lies a danger for our hard-fought equality.

@nuLaGaavai@waryprince A lot of these relationships end up becoming non monogamous in the long run though. Ive heard it be argued that opening up such marriages is a helpful tool to keep the relationship going.
Most women wouldn't tolerate that
"from Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcey
I just read that 'loved into existence' and thought it profound for those who aren't loved by their bio parents, or were the result of rape, or were 'unwanted' in some way."
@Engineer_Hasn@AndThenWeSang@Big_marvis Im sure there is at least some peace, as the majority of people work just to survive.
There is no doubt that there are extremists though - to my knowledge there isnt an equivalent in terms of christian extremists targeting Muslims.
On the other hand:

@Engineer_Hasn@southgrace427@wink1ura@NYCMayor Sirach isnt apart of the Canon of the bible.
The 1 Samuel verse is quite egalitarian in both men and women suffering the same fate.
Yes the bible prescribes male headship in the church/home. The bible also ascribes equal worth, dignity to women, galatians 3:28 "one in christ"
@TheGrantHartley Btw not trying to instigate - genuinely curious. I think at one pt, I would have even echoed something similar to you since Ive met moderate, disciplined, kind muslims. And ive never looked into what life is like in muslim majority countries, wasnt familiar w sharia law
@TheGrantHartley Im curious if your thoughts on this have changed? Given recent news like turkey turning away a gay cruise to land on port, the Muslim rape gang inquiry in the UK? Also the fact that in some Muslim majority countries lgbt people face the death penalty
