@CurmudgeonHouse@WilliamEHillis@ChristandGuitar Curmudgeon. Apropos. If you really were joyful, you would speak the truth in love. And so would we all. No wonder the world looks at the Body of Christ and turns away. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35
@MaJoJovi@christurner22@Sola_Requiem@Richhardjuice Tell that to the 50-100 million Chinese worshiping in house churches. Tell that to the Iranians who risk their lives to meet together. Or the Nigerians who are being martyred for their faith. The Holy Spirit is doing a great work in the midst of persecution. Open your eyes.
@Bridgeport64427@BreeSolstad that’s how I see the refining work of the Holy Spirit in this life. The moment I close my eyes in death, I will open them on the face of my beloved Savior.
@BreeSolstad Why on earth would you think we would be carrying our sins and flaws in Heaven? When I close my eyes on this world, I’ll open them on my Savior's face. And I shall be like him, for I shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2
@SON_OF_ISHMAEL_@InspiringPhilos What would you expect her to say? The "marriage" was consummated within hours while the blood of her husband and tribe was still drying (Ibn Sa’d, Ibn Hisham). This is not disputed. Tabari reports that a man stood outside the prophet's tent while he raped her. You believe lies
@VShoutings@JSgian1@ChristandGuitar even the Baptists--yes, the Baptists!--historically believed in the Real Presence. The 1689 Second London Baptist Confession stated that we spiritually receive Christ.
@SON_OF_ISHMAEL_@InspiringPhilos Safiyya's husband was tortured and killed for his treasure. If this story was about anyone else but the Prophet, Muslims would call it what it is: abuse, rape, and coercion. Instead, it’s sanitized as “marriage” and “mercy.” it makes me sick to even repeat this.
@MasterMaliq I believe you ask sincere questions. Jesus said the Comforter would be with them (the apostles) and IN them. He also said the world neither SEES him nor knows him. He is not speaking of a human being that can be seen. In Acts 1 he told them the Spirit would come within days.
@HydroFoundry@RogerThat1961@Protestia That’s why I separated out inspiration from inerrancy. Doesn't he believe all scripture is breathed out by the Holy Spirit? I confess I’m a little shocked, although I’ve heard him say a couple of other things recently that raised a red flag. Maybe he should stick to apologetics.
@HydroFoundry@RogerThat1961@Protestia I agree that the timeline of the creation event may not be literal and Christ is most certainly not a created being, but that’s not what the original post says. Is WLC saying the inspiration of scripture is a peripheral doctrine?
@DrChimdy1@UcheMaryOkoli Would you compare a pagan king with the godly Catholic priests John Wyckclife who was dug up after death and burned and William Tyndale, also burned at the stake? You should be grateful you’re now reading your Catholic Bible in English thanks to these martyrs.
@SON_OF_ISHMAEL_@InspiringPhilos Oh, yeah, here's your boy; oppressed by a demon in a cave, child rapist, slave trader, warmonger, pervert who lusted after his adopted son‘s wife, illiterate plagiarizer who copied Bible stories but couldn’t get them right. Your "Allah" is a blood thirsty demon.
@Xtopher_Uzo you misunderstand Sola Scriptura. If I decide the Trinity is a false doctrine, I would be excommunicated from my church. You should watch Gavin Ortlunds video on 10 terrible arguments against Protestantism. Maybe you will at least learn to be gracious.
