@Plinz Very reasonable Maxims.
Still searching for that intelligent dissent. It's definitely ego that makes me convinced the former tends to not be paired with the latter.
That in all earnest, the most fun conversations come from those passionate enough to disagree with the room. Rare
@StuartHameroff What about the physical unit? This would be a huge breakthrough if true.
I love Penrose but psuedoscience tech sets us far back. I see no evidence the Dodeconogram is real or effective.
Alas It'd be nice to be proven wrong. I want to believe! Thus the increased skepticism.
@QuanticASI I'm gonna be real, I was gonna say something silly like neurons that fire together wire together, but then I searched "Neuron" on X's Gif function, and kept scrolling down deep as it turned into increasingly disturbing nightmare material.
Only mildly concerning ๐
@XCosmosOfficial Language is accurate enough to trick rocks into thinking ; generate worlds in your mind. Create universe sims (Games) and orchestrate vibrations that alter perception, even using said thinking rocks to generate them (Music.)
Answer's no though lol. The menu is not the meal.
It's 5.15 AM, Saturday, I get to open up my university department on the weekend for neuro experimentation and Instead of sleep have questions on glial cells on my mind.
The main problem with finding your passion is obsession waits for no man. Recommend it though. Fulfilling.
@Plinz I certainly hope we see an Apis Mellifera model similar to the drosophila melanogaster model.
Complex swarm behaviour, interesting magnetic field dynamics, fairly advanced signalling behaviour.
It's a potential gold mine I hope a lab somewhere is taking seriously.
@Plinz Current neural models implement super abstract digital neurons (Generally spiking neural nets).
If the imperative is as above, then local mRNA translation, gene expression, microtubule and astrocyte digital correlates need significant advancement and funding.
We must go deeper.
@Plinz@stevenstrogatz "We should use our intellectual authority to oppose development".
"Many want to work with AI,
others may prefer to stay โAI vegetarianโ or even โAI vegan.โ Coming up with definitions of such mathematical identities is interesting and important
work."
This has to be satire ๐
@norabelrose@Plinz Besides, if running a simulation of a brain doesn't produce real conscious experience, then the "Ancestor simulations" in Bostroms argument do not count as containing observers like us.
And of course, let's not get all spooky here and bring up the great filter.

@norabelrose@Plinz Belief is dogma.
I have seen no evidence that consciousness can't be explained with physics, mathematics and empirical reasoning.
Whilst I see indicators of a holographic universe (Ads/cft), assuming it's computational or ET is premature.
(1/2)
@norabelrose@Plinz It's very telling when you assume blindly that those believing consciousness may be mechanistic somehow automatically believe in simulation theory, extra terrestrials and a transferable "soul" so to speak.
Are you a fan of Alex Jones?
It'd be good to assume less and learn more.
@norabelrose@Plinz Oh? That's delightful news!
Can you get them to get in contact with me, people seem to go awfully quiet whence they turn immortal.
It really is a conundrum.
@norabelrose@Plinz Not to be a pedant but, isn't digital preservation, immortality and if we're being really cheeky apotheosis, supposed to be a goal here?
It's always concerning how so many people are not only comfortable, but unfathomably in a rush to perish.
