The spring drive is truly insane engineering to look at. The moment I saw that I knew I had to get one. Experience of buying at the grand seiko store was awesome too.
Would have bought the Rolex Day-Date in gold, but I needed to know a guy who knows a guy… sort through the 100+ DMs and emails y’all sent — then would have had hours of small talk before never knowing if I paid the right price.
Instead, I walked into the Grand Seiko store in Ginza, was treated like a Saudi prince, and locked down my frosted cherry blossom dream watch — for much less than the price on the American website because of the duty-free and strong dollar
It’s a true piece of art and inspiring craftsmanship, and I’m shocked that it gives me so much pleasure to look at.
I didn’t get the watch thing, but I do now.
Considering buying an old school leather GS from the 70s next
I messed up.
At our YC afterparty, we offered free tattoos and said we’d be happy to interview anyone who got one. What I thought would be a fun, memorable way to meet people was, in reality, reckless, and instead came across as tying a permanent tattoo to job opportunity, which showed poor judgement.
Even though participants chose their own tattoos and no one was asked to get our logo, I should have understood the pressure and power dynamic created by connecting tattoos to hiring.
Regardless of said intent, turning a celebration of personalized art into a company stunt was poorly exercised judgement. We’ve taken the posts down and have spoken to everyone who participated. We’re also ready to cover associated removal costs with anyone facing any delayed regret.
I’m sorry to the people we put in that position, and to everyone who expected better from me. There’s no clever explanation here. I got carried away, and I was wrong.
For the facts: interviews were available to everyone regardless.
Major cheat code for life: Always assume things will work out, then do the work to make it true. It’s a mindset of active optimism. Earned faith. It creates a quiet confidence that allows you to tolerate the uncertainty of life better than anything else.
@FidelCacheFlow You can control your process though. The way you prep, the way you run disco, the way you outbound and demo. All of that is in your process to control. Do the little things right all the time and it adds up.
Sales is more about ur having amazing process all the time and constantly doing all the little things. Process meets determination meets prioritization and a little bit of timing.

This year I feel like @Spotify has taken a massive step back in music discoverability. It used to be the best platform to find great new artists you like. Now every playlist and radio is curated like the radio you had to listen to in the car growing up. Same 20 songs always.
