My daughter weighed 3.74kg at birth, she was so beautiful and perfect. I did exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and when it was time to transition to solids, my girl refused to eat.

There is nothing I did not try, she just wanted breast milk. One Friday, my husband wanted to attend the traditional marriage ceremony of his cousin but I was suppose to be on duty and can’t attend hence I asked my younger sister to go with him and our daughter.

I returned home from work that evening to meet my younger sister looking angry. I asked what the problem was but she refused to spill until I threatened.

Found out one of my husbands aunt complained about my baby being too small for her age (she was 9 months) and said if I can’t take care of the child, I should send her over to my mother in law for proper care. She went as far as making custard and milk for my baby, insisting that the food, if given frequently will make her fat.

My baby refused to eat and she was forcefully fed of which she ended up vomiting it all. I saw stars that day. I felt so angry and confused. My parenting skills were questioned and I was deemed not fit enough to care for my child and advised I send her over for “proper care”.

I was so mad all I could see was red, I transferred aggression on my husband and uncle simply picked his key and left the house for two days. My MIL later called to apologize and I also apologized cause I said a lot😭

Please and please, leave mothers alone, if they do not ask for your assistance, allow them care for their kids how they see fit. Not all kids must be fat as long as they are healthy, leave them the fvck alone.

They are no best mothers anywhere, we are all just mothers doing our best, stop picking on us.

My babies were less than 3kg at birth

I had Hyperemesis on both occasions

The first baby doubled her birth weight in 6 weeks

For some reasons, the second baby didn't.

She was so tiny.
People said all sorts.

By 6 months, my baby was bigger than all the babies who weighed 4kg at birth.

She's still bigger than them till date.

Anyways, I don't believe in comparing babies. I didn't even compare her with her sister, so I wasn't pressured, but some other people might.

As long as you're lactating and baby is steadily gaining weight, rest assured.

Don't make people feel uncomfortable by your criticising or complimenting.

The same people who will say that baby is too small are the ones who will complain if baby doesn't walk at 9months.

They will blame the weight 😄
