@benryanwriter UVM is not like many schools that will see further declines, close, or pivot as a result of the "cliff". This is a state flagship with a strong brand. It was known for both academics and a classic (even party school) trad student experience. Much more here.
@chamath the majority of post secondary students are not a kid...they are adults, often w/ a job. Defining those who "cannot pay" also a challenge.. Should at least keep the GI Bill.
@sfmcguire79 I used to love reading the Pulitzer and Bancroft winners and finalists for history each year, but it just got to a point where I felt the books changed towards advocacy and focus on social justice, its a different way to approach historical non-fiction than the past
@johnarnold In some subject matter areas I envision substantial increases in online programs. Grad Plus was used by many to support FT residential grad study- w/out as much funding online offers same degree & ability to be employed while enrolled
@christopherrufo Reduction of research funds to MIT, just for those billions that facilitate advances in national security alone, would be a bad idea. One of a couple reasons why I think it won't happen. They went for the merrit message and thats going to appeal to many.
The more I read and actually see happening with AI implementation into curriculum and labor market signals the more I believe in person career services and corporate partnerships will be increase in number and importance
@PrestonCooper93@usedgov This is excellent. Thank you! Aside from alumni signing up for a new repayment plan how can a school move the needle on this for or at least show ED they are moving the needle? Are large portions of defaulter are also non-completers?
Family of four is all in for > $1k to attend today. Its summer in DC, great US tennis on & near empty stands. I bet the tourney has record profit, record "attendance", record everything. Change the model. Please make it more approachable. @mubadalacitidc @atp@Served_Podcast
