@EuroInterventio RBBB + first-degree AV block pre-TAVI = red flag combo for PPM. Makes sense given how close the conduction system sits to the annulus in AR anatomy vs classic AS. Worth flagging these patients pre-op for closer monitoring.

The sudden blast of freezing water to the face This immediately stimulates the vagus nerve, which sends a signal to essentially "reboot" the heart and slow it back down to a normal, healthy rhythm.

@TrackYourHeart Aminoglycosides (gentamicin, amikacin, etc.) have poor penetration across the blood-brain barrier, even in the setting of inflamed meninges, due to their large size and high polarity. This makes them generally unsuitable as primary therapy for brain abscess or meningitis.
