@ItsPraww@PanicTCG Mostly wanted to add that you may be seeing the unintended consequences of a lack of transparency on how big of a commitment the wvent is in comparison to last year, where we had full control over the format.
@ItsPraww@PanicTCG Appreciate it! I do think overall, there could be more incentive for stores to run events, but making it mandatory in this way may have some unintended consequences for those communities that are already making the effort (which I know is true for @PanicTCG as well)
@PanicTCG@ItsPraww We have about a dozen stores who all had this experience in Columbus and were all scrambling to schedule cup style event within the same two weeks, trying not to overlap, and also with several of our best professors potentially busy at Worlds.
@PanicTCG@ItsPraww At least from my end it looked like: League receives an email saying we were approved to host the event. We then had to confirm our interest.
We were not given details regarding the event before confirming. If I knew the requirements before confirming I may have declined.
@thaDifftcg@Ruwub_ee We have over a dozen stores in a 25 mile radius. Avoiding holidays/regionals etc without overlapping necessitates weeknight challenges. The Columbus scene does a very good job coordinating our events and we've seen our number of players 2-3x over the last year as we coordinate
The Columbus Pokémon scene is known to be crazy, but it is also a warm and welcoming community. To stay connected while I go to school, I started a new show to talk with community members about just how crazy it gets. Follow along as we work towards the 2027 Invitational!
@RealChildress23@hipsherjoshua We'd be happy to have you! We're free play most Saturdays but give out a prize pack for attending. Happy to play a match with anyone who stops by mysefl!

Runner-up at the Columbus, Ohio Invitational!
With: Degenerate Pult! (I’m sorry) but man, the prizing hits 😉
What a cool event. Every year, the local stores in Columbus come together to track Cup wins, Challenge wins, and local events, awarding players points to try to qualify for this event. They all come together at OSU and run a huge 2-day BO3 tournament for the top 32 players in the Columbus area. They track everything in a large Discord server and keep players up to date on standings throughout the year
It’s a huge ordeal full of logistics and planning, and they did an amazing job. Special shoutout to @HisuianAndrew and @TiebreakerTCG for putting it on, as well as every single judge and event coordinator I tagged (and those I couldn’t!)
Happy with the result, happier with the ability to still play at a high level over the “off season” (and come knocking on the door of the Columbus meta). I look forward to more events like this leading up to the biggest event in the world in 5 weeks: the World Championships
Shoutout also to my support from @LostZoneKitchen, @88Cardhouse, and @DragonShield_, and to all my opponents this weekend for some amazing games
@thefleeee Hope you're able to get in on the General sales! There's a thread on the fan first sales from one of the devs and it looks like it was extremely limited.
Insanity.
With the sheer amount of Legends in the game and how that number will continue to balloon I do like more options.
However being able to swap out 25% of your deck is going to allow some crazy cooks, I look forward to what people can do with this.
they called it a “sneak peak”
they say “check back later for more”
they have staggered announcements for at least the last 2 years
…please get the “there are only 5!!!!!” off the tl
