We deliberately refrained from naming the US in the context of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mining sector. As observed in Balochistan, global players such as China already possess robust extraction and processing frameworks. Given that China maintains the world's premier mineral processing and manufacturing infrastructure, Pakistan, which lacks domestic refining capacity remains restricted to exporting unprocessed raw ores. These resources were never meant to benefit local populations; the military-political elite apparatus retains the lion's share for its own institutional interests. Even if Beijing sought to build genuine downstream industry inside Pakistan, the military brass would view it as a threat. Economic empowerment enables self-reliance, and an empowered populace challenges centralized control. For the high command in Rawalpindi, a marginalized, uneducated workforce is far easier to dominate than a prosperous one.
Dr. @HNadim87 breaks down the military regime's takeover of KP on Katie Halper, a move made under the pretext of "terrorism" while Imran Khan stays in prison. #Pakistan#KPK
Pakistan’s military-dominated government faces a "demographic time bomb." Young people are already angry about the lack of jobs, and their ranks are rapidly growing. https://t.co/4rqOBUcP3c
"Figures released by the UNDP in New York show that 38.3 per cent of Pakistan’s population was multidimensionally poor, compared with 16.4 per cent in India and 14.9pc in Bangladesh."
🚨 Reem Asaad Awad, a 33-year-old mother, was killed when an Israeli airstrike hit her family's apartment in Gaza City's Rimal neighborhood around 4am Wednesday, setting the building on fire. Videos circulating online show her young daughter being pulled out of the burning apartment.
Footage from inside the apartment shows the girl sitting alone on a bed as smoke fills the room and fire burns the wall above her. In another shot she presses her hand to her mouth, eyes wide with terror.
Israel said it was targeting a Hamas member but has provided no evidence.
As Pakistan’s government arrests opposition leaders and suspends an elected provincial government, President Trump continues to embrace its military chief.
The United States should stand with the Pakistani people, not enable political repression. We must press for the release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan.

@ReutersAsia Please make this extremely pertinent correction! "Pakistan" DIDN'T suspend Imran Khan's provincial Govt.
In fact, Pakistan is protesting against this unjust move!
How shameless the Pakistani military has become! After being partners of the Taliban (Quetta Shura) & playing double games with the United States after 9/11 (much has been written about it, by US Experts, Academics & Authors) they are now exploiting unaware US journalists to mislead US public! Caitlin should find out what Chairman Joint Chiefs, Admiral Mike Mullen had said in a Congressional briefing about Pakistani military and its relationship with Taliban and Haqqani Network. Imran Khan only took public positions against Drone Strikes along with many from the International Community, it was not his job to fight Taliban & provincial govts have neither mandate nor capacity to fight terrorists- but Pakistani Army was accused by US Ambassadors, Military and War Correspondents of supporting Taliban and playing on both sides of the fence. (Check Zalmay Khalilzad's Book) I hope Caitlin will show independence of mind to check facts - and will not let Pakistani military officers to mislead her. Because it risks her own credibility when she reports on other regions of the world too..@CaitlinDoornbos@realZalmayMK@worqas@christinalamb@ryangrim
❗️ SAY IT WITH US: "U.S. foreign policy is not and has never been motivated by human rights or democratic values!"
Glenn Greenwald and Erik Sperling discuss two cases that explode this myth:
"Saudi Arabia tends to be the most prominent example, but Pakistan is such an important one as well."
"We don't even make any pretense about the fact—and, again, this was done under Biden—that you have this incredibly popular leader," Imran Khan, "who was democratically elected."
"And because that will of the Pakistani people didn't serve the American and Israeli vision of that region, we just said, 'Yeah, get rid of him and we'll support this military junta.'"
Pro-democracy protests survive Pakistan regime's crackdown?
Despite internet shutdown by US-backed dictator Asim Munir, footage keeps getting out indicating organic protests may be enduring
Where is Western media concern over democracy and human rights?

Advocate Bashir Wazir, who yesterday filed habeas corpus petitions seeking the recovery of the abducted Chief Minister and Speaker of the KP Assembly, has reportedly himself been abducted in broad daylight outside the Peshawar High Court. This is a grave assault on the rule of law, the independence of the legal profession and the administration of justice
