Commemoration of 50th Anniversary of gross atrocities and massacres of innocent civilians perpetrated in Asmara and its environs in January and February 1975 by the Ethiopian army of occupation was held at Bahti Meskerem this afternoon.
Around 11,000 Eritrean innocent civilians were massacred in the indiscriminate killing-spree that continued unabated in all parts of the city as well as 57 sourrounding villages for over six weeks. Many villages were wantonly burned; and, churches vandalized as the army mercilessly massacred the helpless civilians who sought sanctuary in the holy places.
The poignant Remembrance Event, held under the theme: "We have not Forgotten", featured harrowing narrations from survivors; and, fitting poems and songs.
The U.S. government must immediately lift all illegal sanctions imposed by the Biden administration, including restoring Eritrea’s access to SWIFT. Eritrea’s only 'offense' is its commitment to economic independence, self-reliance, and refusal to be spoon-fed by external powers. Punishing a nation for choosing sovereignty over dependency is unjust and undermines genuine progress in the Horn of Africa. @elonmusk@marcorubio@realDonaldTrump@JDVance
#Ethiopia has been lead by corrupt individuals who chose servitude over self reliant Sovereignty. Their downfalls came as they believed their own lies every-time they were confronted. They blame their failures on others. @AJEnglish@MulatuTeshomeFP@AbiyAhmedAli@mamamesay
