Do we want a proposal that's supported by WallMart to be the use of Laura's foundation money? I'm heartbroken at the prospect of the company that decimated local Chinatown businesses, to create an ephemeral WallMart, to be associatied with Laura's memory and name. #chtown19
The night market seems like it will bring a lot of traffic and the proposal members suggest that it will allow new businesses to pop up... but what about support for pre-existing businesses? This project seems like it'll become a tourist trap, intensifying gentrification.
The US-China Business Council almost exclusively supports big businesses - unclear how this connects with the mission statement of the LACNA 4 Laura group which states that they're going to promote small business https://t.co/wqiQuwR3cs #chtown19
AGREED! similarly if they are supposedly "helping immigrants" then where are the immigrants standing up there with you today. Oh right they are being detained and deported because this proposal fails to actually do anything to help immigrants in this community #chtown19
Is it fair that @EugeneLiLA , project administrator for the Song Night Market proposal, is ALSO on the committee deciding which proposal to choose? #hmm#chtown19
