Last month we launched our Anthropic Economic Index, to help track the effect of AI on labor markets and the economy.
Today, we’re releasing the second research report from the Index, and sharing several more datasets based on anonymized Claude usage data.
TL;DR: we are excited to release a powerful new open-weight language model with reasoning in the coming months, and we want to talk to devs about how to make it maximally useful: https://t.co/nZ5JQ19CN6
we are excited to make this a very, very good model!
__
we are planning to release our first open-weigh language model since GPT-2.
we’ve been thinking about this for a long time but other priorities took precedence. now it feels important to do.
before release, we will evaluate this model according out our preparedness framework, like we would for any other model. and we will do extra work given that we know this model will be modified post-release.
we still have some decisions to make, so we are hosting developer events to gather feedback and later play with early prototypes. we’ll start in SF in a couple of weeks followed by sessions in europe and APAC. if you are interested in joining, please sign up at the link above.
we’re excited to see what developers build and how large companies and governments use it where they prefer to run a model themselves.

I believe the next @MichaelDell, @JeffBezos, or @elonmusk are likely in their high school's maker space or robotics lab. With this in mind, I have been working w/ @UTAustin to help launch an undergraduate robotics program. Applications are open (Fall '25). https://t.co/tvLILUhpqg
EBS celebrated it's 16th birthday earlier this week and next week I'll celebrate my 13th anniversary at AWS. I took some time to reflect on our journey from humble beginnings to what we are today. I hope you enjoy! https://t.co/9ufTXAbBqg
@ranman I hear you and we are making improvements so this is clearer for customers.
The services I'm referring to are: S3 Select, CloudSearch, Cloud9, SimpleDB, Forecast, Data Pipeline, and CodeCommit.
After giving it a lot of thought, we made the decision to discontinue new access to a small number of services, including AWS CodeCommit.
While we are no longer onboarding new customers to these services, there are no plans to change the features or experience you get today, including keeping them secure and reliable.
We also support migrations to other AWS or third-party solutions better aligned with your evolving needs. Keep the feedback coming. We’re always listening.
Update:
Crowdstrike came out and released a technical report confirming my analysis. They were reading in a bad data file and attempting to access invalid memory.
This global crash was a two-part bomb. The detonator apparently, was NOT new.. it was PRE-INSTALLED.

We are resetting the @Okta credentials of any employees who’ve changed their passwords in the last 4 months, out of abundance of caution. We’ve confirmed no compromise. Okta is one layer of security. Given they may have an issue we’re evaluating alternatives for that layer.

"Well were things more reliable before @awscloud?" No! Good lord no! The difference is that I could have a bad day and take down a hospital. AWS has a bad day and takes down all the hospitals.
It's the simultaneous outage of everything that's the problem.
Years ago, I remember reading that Google's 8.8.8.8 handled 2 trillion queries per day and being blown away. Today, just 3 1/2 years after launch, 1.1.1.1 is a quarter of the way to that same milestone. And >15% of its queries are encrypted! #progress https://t.co/SOM1dSGoEI
