Seems like half the discourse on Left Twitter is always about whether or not it’s okay to make people feel uncomfortable feelings. Oh no, don’t say chronically late people should stop being chronically late, you’ll make them feel bad about themselves. Don’t say enlisting in the US military is immoral, you’ll make people from underprivileged communities feel bad about enlisting. Don’t talk about white privilege, you’ll make working class whites feel uncomfortable feelings. It’s always something.

And it’s just so silly. Feelings are not dangerous. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable. It’s safe.

It is a sign of emotional maturity to be able to sit with uncomfortable feelings. The recognition that feelings are not dangerous is a crucial first step toward emotional adulthood. All the best things in life stand on the other side of discomfort.

If we’re here to have mature conversations about important issues, we need to move beyond this immature relationship with emotional discomfort. Because that’s where all the juicy stuff is.

AI is already here and it's a waste of money and resources. It doesn't make anything faster, it doesn't make anything better, it makes mistakes that people have to fix but because they fired all the people there's nobody to fix them.

It's an expensive scam at best.
