My question to the government, if a child were raped or sexually abused by a teacher at school, or by a doctor in a hospital, it would trigger a national scandal. Yet thousands of children suffer abuse in care homes by so called professionals, and nothing. Are the lives of children in care valued at all?
Vulnerable young people are being housed in unregulated accommodations with no vetting procedures. These facilities are often run by private hedge funds or so-called directors living overseas—people with no experience in safeguarding children or young people, no experience in care whatsoever.
Despite thousands of testimonials submitted to the DfE and numerous meetings with Members of Parliament presenting clear evidence, nothing has changed.
Our call to make care experience a protected characteristic—ensuring extra protection for young people leaving care—was ignored.
The result is a care system where paedophiles and criminal gangs can gain easy access to society’s most vulnerable children. They have never had it easier.
@drsanjoykumar@rcpsych Hi Dr Kumar, I work on a podcast for the Telegraph and would very much like to give you a voice on this. Would you follow me back and I can give you further details? Many thanks
@drsanjoykumar good afternoon, may I ask you to follow me back as we are very interested in interviewing you. I can DM you the specifics and hopefully we can arrange something for early next week. Kind regards!
@sainsburys why do you not take care of the plots you build? This is in Kettering and its always full of rubbish. Do you not manage the tidiness of your car parks and outdoor space?
