@Snakesan @_space_punk_ CBT for PTSD is exposoure based too. Primary versions are "prolonged exposure" and "trauma focused cbt". Those involve direct and continous re-imagining of trauma memories. Some therapists may offer a generically cbt-like mastery approach but the research clearly favor exposure

The primary symptoms of PTSD is not that though, but intrusive memories, anxiety, avoidance, etc. Trauma focused CBT is about reprocessing memories and deliberate exposure to triggers in a safe context, allowing relearning

@TheBorisLab @MichaelHaichin Hm yeah I can imagine emergence making this murky. Would be interesting to see if one gets more or different types of experiences with a psychedelic added, to be suspected in emergence I gather?

@TheBorisLab @MichaelHaichin Perhaps a stupic question but are we certain that people are accurate in their reporting on this? I mean, is it clear that the experiences reported occur in the middle of anesthesia and not during emergence or right after of waking?

@DoctorPerin Hm. I have only seen the opposite, that CBT is disliked because it suggests that people are irrational, catastrophize, have flawed beliefs or perceptions, etc. Which is opposed to a strand of activist thinking popular in recent years. Seems to be the argument of the paper too.

@KemtrupTweets Agree but is that really the argument though, to do away with different kinds of therapies? Maybe some argue for that but afik it is far more common to suggest that it is possible to flexibly combine approaches. That doesnt imply that we shouldnt practice particular strands also.

@GrantHBrennerMD @BadreNicolas Would any of these translate to a clinically useful finding of specific abnormality if present in a typical first-episode psychosis patient? Which one and why?

All are group-level and mostly on established schizophrenia. AFIK there are only small subsets where MRI's are needed

@Drug_Researcher @DavidJuurlink NSAIDs also has a ceiling in which higher doses does not reduce pain more. Opioid-analgesia is limited by respiratory depression but otherwise higher doses bring more pain relief. Opioids also impact emotional aspects of pain more, which can be crucial in certain circumstances.

@elonmusk What is the hypocrisy? He never said millionaires shouldnt exist, even when he wasnt. People being billionaires is obviously different from having a net worth of a few millions as he does. He still advocates high taxes on wealthy people so he has not broken with his own politics.

I think psychedelic counterculture would've happened without the CIA: Sandoz would still produce LSD, psychedelic research would continue in acedemia and leak through self-experimentation and social networks. Triggering the crucial factor: large-scale illegal production
