Nigel Farage is once again the MP for Clacton. More than 9600 working age adults in the constituency receive disability payments - that's around 18%, one of the highest proportions in the entire country. Be careful what you vote for.
disability is the only minority group that anyone can join at any time… you could become disabled & suddenly have to rely on the accessibility resources & benefits that you once advocated against the disabled community having.
whilst you discriminate, disability doesn’t.
As the Nicotine Stained Manfrog tries to spin his 22000 votes as a win, meet the real winner of this Backfiring Farage Stunt. @CountBinface should make us all feel proud to be British! Farage credibility is shot! As for not turning up to the count … pathetic. And spare us the ‘police warning BS’. Binface I salute you.
We have trains derailing because tracks are buckling in the heat, homes on fire, water is running out, crop yields and feed for animals are struggling and there is no rain in the forecast. The climate is a full blown emergency and we need the government to lead on it
🚨 WATCH: Count Binface responds to Nigel Farage calling him the "establishment candidate"
"That's interesting, isn't it? Because one of the candidates was a sitting MP, formerly an MEP and the architect of Brexit... if that's not the establishment, I'd like to know what is"
@thameswater recently told me that due to “fiscal constraints”, they can’t afford to fix all of the illegal outfalls on the River Roding by 2030 (already a more than fair deadline in the circumstances I feel).
This single one million pound payment to their finance chief would, alone, be enough to stop a billion litres of raw sewage a year entering the river in Ilford. Which other companies do we allow to commit serious crimes because they’ve taken money that should have been used to ensure their company complies with the law & given it to their execs instead? How long until the government says “no more” to these chancers & puts Thames Water out of its misery?

And here's the bit that should make your blood boil, the @EnvAgency were charged with changing all of that 23 years ago and what have they achieved in over 2 decades?
Yep, nothing, in fact less than nothing....
Infantino would have got away with it if not for @thetimes and the brilliant reporting of @martynziegler. A free press (and the subscribers who fund it) remains a crucial bulwark against the abuse of power

The Coca-Cola factory in Morpeth, Northumberland, sits above a natural underground reservoir of fresh water. It produces enough bottled water every year to fill 30 Olympic-size swimming pools.
But The Observer can reveal Coca-Cola is paying the Environment Agency (EA) just £6,070 in annual charges for a licence to extract up to 674m litres of water for its production line at Morpeth. It extracted about 125m litres last year. @JonUngoedThomas investigates

Scotland has just done something quietly brilliant for its birds 🐦
New buildings across the country will now have to include "swift bricks", hollow bricks built straight into the walls that give birds a safe place to nest.
It sounds like a small thing but it isn't. Swift numbers in the UK have fallen by around 60% since the mid-1990s, and one of the biggest reasons is heartbreakingly simple: modern buildings have nowhere for them to go. Swifts have always nested in the nooks and gaps of our houses, and as those disappeared, so did they.
The birds themselves make it worse by being loyal to a fault. Swifts return to the exact same nest site year after year, having flown thousands of miles from Africa to get there.
When they arrive to find it sealed up, some will keep flying at the spot again and again, sometimes injuring themselves in the process.
The bricks cost about £30 each. They need no maintenance, they don't affect insulation, and once they're in the wall, you'd never know they were there. Sparrows, starlings and house martins use them too, all species in trouble for the same reason.
One RSPB conservationist put it starkly. In his part of Glasgow, not a single swift bred in 2025, the first time in his 30 years there. He called it "nothing short of heartbreaking."
Scotland is the first country in the UK to write this into law. Campaigners are now hoping the rest follows.
This is spot on. FA Cup replays were done away with to give players more time to rest on their 'busy' schedules, but clubs have no issue flying players to the other side of the world for a cash grab preseason comp... 🤦🏼♂️
