Home-based workers were officially recognized by the International Labour Organization in 1996 through the Home Work Convention (C177).

They remain essential in production systems, reflected in carpets, spices, and mudhas.

Any new mother in the formal sector would have access to maternity leave – by law. For #HomeBasedWorkers like Sarita, there is no such thing.

Apr 21–24, our team visited Nepal to meet home-based workers and engage with affiliates SABAH Nepal, WHR, and SAATHI. We also had a partners’ meeting, which included an outcome harvesting session on VAW, outputs vs outcomes, and shared learning.

15 Home-Based Ready-Made Garment Workers sharpened their skills for Community-Based Negotiation, thanks to a workshop by our affiliates at BLF. From learning about their rights to creating collective plans for the future, such initiatives foster solidarity & prevent exploitation.

Kidszone Montessori Preschool hosted its 5th Annual Day & Graduation Ceremony - an event filled with dance & music performances! Initially set up by KWAS & HNSA as a shelter for home-based workers' kids after the 2015 Nepal earthquake, Kidszone is now a formal preschool for 100+.
