It's a QoL thing. Like does it give an advantage if used right? Yes. Is it an unfair advantage? Not really. It's not exactly the same, but mice that have aim buttons that lower or raise dpi are similar

The issue isn't that white doesn't lose the queen (it does or can) the issue is that the knight not blocking the king makes the followup of rook h8+ not allow you to win the last knight. So the initial sacrifice is +8 vs +5.
