X'ing about hockey analytics and hockey stuff. Analytics is simply interpreting data, it paints some of the picture and doesn't replace watching the game bro.
@meddlesome__@THECOUNTnews@LoudOutside That’s common practice, arm the bear spray in a safe direction away from people. If anything she showed respect to everyone in the group including the aggressive man bluff charging the girls. The girls did well
Oilers who are weak defensively saved cap space today but really didn't improve, they are likely a bit worse. TBD how much coaching improves and what they do with that space
@JasonGregor@LukeAnthony28 It's obviously not the focal point of every single signing those teams make, but it's objectively a competitive advantage they have that will pay dividends over the years if they have good managers. I really don't see what's confusing about it
@EdmOilerlytics Byram is better but my guess is Broberg would be worth similar to his face value, 8th overall? Not having McLeod, Broberg or Holloway on this team is the biggest misstep of this era
@JasonGregor It's a combination. He's one of the league's top producers and will be able to pick one of his favourite destinations. But money and taxes also plays a part in a lot of players' evaluation. If you're trying to dismiss taxes being a factor in NHL player decisions that's incorrect
@ChillRanford Unless Bowman is completely disingenuous, he would have 100% had that discussion with Knoblauch multiple times. But ultimately the coach runs the bench and makes the calls on the fly during the game. So to answer your question the coach probably, just did what he felt was right
@KevinMcCurdy What did you say, the contract is risky? It’s fine today but it could backfire too, you never know. Bottom six guys with any term is always a risk, if they regress, they can be out of the league and unplayable
Dickinson is a legit defensive 3C and his 3.8% of cap is close to other 3rd liners like Trenin and Foegele. The contract should age fine given the increasing cap. A solid 4C or bottom six player near the end of it
Dickinson at 3.8% of cap is a fair signing for a defensive 3C. Good thing, because being one of the Oilers' better defensive players, they can't afford to lose him with the uncertainty around Nurse
Trading Darnell Nurse would be basic salary cap housekeeping for most teams, but given Bowman's struggles and that the Oilers are one of the worst defensive teams... it's a move he has to get right. They can't afford to get worse two off-seasons in a row
