I would rather be described as hard working or capable rather than "smart". The former says something about my discipline, focus, & work ethic. The latter feels like an ego boost, it masks over hard work, giving rise to the illusion that capability springs from nowhere.
Now that #CriticalRaceTheory is trending...will tenure and promotion committees finally see our work as having "national significance" or "relevance" or will they continue to describe it as "too narrow" and "niche." #AcademicTwitter
