@HPbasketball Its broken. NBA's intent is broken but it is incentivizing losing.

1. Don't ever incentivize losing - kill the lottery, rotate picks.

2. Cap increase/max contract increase for teams with 3 years of bottom 5

3. 5 straight years of bottom 5 owner has to sell team

@ADLegend21 @righttimebomani Everyone agrees with that. Which is why you have a draft, salary cap, free agency etc. That is the intent of the lottery. My only point is that if you want every team trying every night you can't make the best path to improve their roster be losing 75% of your games

@ADLegend21 @righttimebomani you don't need to incentivize winning, everyone wants to win, you need to not incentivize losing in order to win. How much tanking would happen without an incentive to lose? rotating draft does give more teams similar talent.

Teams are consistently bad because of their own decisions, the lottery lets fans lie about the cause and have irrational hope instead of fixing the issue

@AnthonyIrwinLA Jazz and Indiana fans want a fair league where each team can win, whether right or not the perception is that the league is set up against them.

Neither team ever moves up in the draft. Neither team gets star free agents. Only path for small markets is following okc and sas path

If you don’t want teams to tank, change the incentive structure in such a way that teams no longer feel the need to tank.

Until then, as ugly as it is, I don’t think teams should be punished for behaving rationally in their best interests, and if they are, everyone should be.

The reason there’s so much outrage about Utah and not other NBA tankers?

GAMBLING.

Bettors know if players are being DNP’d and can adjust.

They CANT adjust when players randomly sit the final quarter.

And the NBA will respond.

Again, it’s about gambling.

@Tjonesonthenba Keep the draft rotate picks so every 6 years every team gets a top 5 pick and a bottom 5 pick.

Downsides already happen, the Jazz never have moved up in the lottery, the kings never get good. SAC, WAS, POR, UTA and IND would have been better off past 30 years

@davidjsmith1232 I mean the nba should look at what happened last night... and the past few years in utah. It is embarrassing. The incentives are not ideal. But, yes it isn't unique to utah and It is the NBAs fault for how they set up the incentives.
