⚠️ To all the politicians and social media grifters losing their minds over @PeteHegseth spending money on steak and seafood for deployed troops, spare us the outrage.
In 2017–2018, I was deployed to Iraq as a contractor supporting Operation Inherent Resolve (final ISIS push). When I flew into Al Qaim Air Base, I saw something that stuck with me: our troops had been eating MREs for months.
So instead of complaining, I did something about it.
I connected with our Iraqi partners and started buying chicken and fresh meat so we could run cookouts for the troops. Some Air Force maintenance guys even converted oil barrels into grills so we could cook real food - fresh protein, hot meals, something that actually boosted morale for the warfighters grinding it out every day.
People who’ve never spent a day in a combat zone want to lecture everyone about “steak.” FUCKYOU
Here’s the reality:
When you're deployed in a war zone, a real meal means everything. Specially in contingency operation where you don't have infrastructure.
Our troops deserve the best food we can give them. Period.
Here are a few photos from that deployment.
For transparency I didn't pay for all of this out of my pocket. the troops chipped in as well for good food.
