@AlpacaAurelius Whether or not this is true, I think it’s best not to adopt this way of seeing things. I’m a little skeptical thinking of dating and love as a “market” and of people as having different “market value”. We lose very important aspects if we use economics terms to describe love.
@orangebook I agree that technology should do this, but it appears that the social media platforms don’t do this. Instead the goal for the developers is to make us spend as much time as possible on these platforms. The internet didn’t at all turn out as we wanted, unfortunately.
@MortenStostad And I think this is one of the reasons why the US is far ahead of Europe when it comes to innovative science. Getting exposed to many subjects, as they do in the US, makes them less fixed in their ways of seeing things, and more likely to come up with new things.
@MortenStostad I think it’s very different in the US. They have to do many courses outside their area of study, with their degree system of major, minor, and general education requirements. In Europe one only, at least in most cases, takes courses within the one subject one chooses.
@abenitezburraco I proposed a slightly different version of this idea (https://t.co/O1yUJ3schg and https://t.co/ggX32BcavH): it's the intelligence of the morphogenetic process, not the genome, that works somewhat like that.
Using thermoplastic elastomer, we make a reversible joint that "allows for strong attachment and easy detachment of distributed soft robot modules without direct human handling."

@DonJRobertson Is the meditations of Marcus Aurelius unique in its genre or was it normal for Stoics, and maybe philosophers from other schools as well, to do philosophical journaling?
@14JUN1995 I say continue writing, thinking, investigating, and follow your interests and intuitions. Eventually one of your works will end up being your magnum opus.
@DonJRobertson Did Marcus believe that the physics part of stoicism was very important for understanding the ethics part of stoicism? And does that make it difficult for us in modernity to get a complete view of stoicism, given that the works on stoic physics are unfortunately mostly lost?
@IkkyusDen I see. Please excuse me for my ignorance on the topic. I am happy to hear that it has helped you. Thank you for sharing your experience. And I’m sorry if I sounded preachy, I didn’t mean to.
