Forgive me, just found the latest NSIA figure (2021). Zaranj has an estimated population of just under 36,000, not 26,000.

That's according to the Central Statistics Organization, which has now become the National Statistic and Information Authority.

Taliban was recognised by Pakistan. Taliban had an ambassador in Islamabad - Abdul Salam Zaeef. Pakistan pledged eternal loyalty to Taliban because both were “Muslims”.

After 9/11, Pakistan arrested Zaeef and handed him over to the Americans as a gesture of “friendship”.

@laurie_bristow Hope you will work harder than your predessor and will open the Visa section of the embassy as well. Similarly the British Council of Afghanistan also has no function in the last 2 years and it isn't doing much so we are forced to travel to Pakistan for taking English tests.
