Today is World Chess Day, and the All India Chess Federation (AICF) is pleased to release the another instalment of quarterly stipends, ranging from ₹60,000 to ₹1,50,000, totalling ₹42,30,000, to 42 top players across the U7 to U19 categories (Open and Girls), based on their performances in the 2024 National Championships.

This is the first time in the history of Indian chess that our players and prodigies are receiving such financial support, so they do not have to give up their passion due to financial constraints. These stipends will support their coaching and travel needs, enabling them to compete globally and pursue higher goals with confidence.

This is part of AICF's ambitious plan to create a robust ecosystem for chess in India, inspired by the vision of Aadarniya Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to empower and encourage athletes at the grassroots.

In today’s era of rapid technological advancement, strong anti-cheating measures are essential to protect the integrity of chess.

They may feel demanding, but ensure games are decided by skill. There have been times of doubt during games, but existing rules make it difficult to speak openly—highlighting the need for stronger systems.

These measures must be applied consistently across all FIDE events, including the FIDE World Cup and the Chess Olympiad.

I appreciate FIDE’s efforts in the Candidates and request they be standard in all major tournaments.@FIDE_chess

After deep reflection, I have taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament.

No event, no matter how important, can come before personal safety and well-being. Despite the assurances provided, I do not feel fully secure under the current circumstances.

This is a painful but necessary decision, and I stand by it.

I am closely following the current situation in Cyprus and understand that it is becoming increasingly critical.

With @humpy_koneru Humpy Koneru reportedly considering participation in the Candidates Tournament, it becomes even more important to ensure that all players can compete in a safe and stable environment.

In this regard, FIDE has already been informed of our readiness to support and provide an immediate solution if required.

Should it be necessary, we stand ready to act immediately. We can organize the Candidates Tournament in Germany, ensuring maximum safety and reliability for all participants and officials.

Germany offers world-class infrastructure and security - conditions essential for an event of this importance.

All organizational and logistical expenses would be fully covered by WR Chess, with our full commitment and responsibility.

Our priority is clear: to protect the players, preserve the integrity of the competition, and ensure that the tournament can take place under the best possible conditions.
