Over the past year, I've grown special interest in caring for patients with #SystemicMastocytosis and transformed my clinic to almost exclusively seeing SM patients. Research focus also transforming. Great time at @AACR Annual meeting. Plenary talks by Aviv Regev and Jakob Kather yesterday had deep insights into application of AI/DL/LLM in patient care.
As a 1st-year med-onc fellow in 2020, I received the Ladies Leukemia League (LLL) grant. Despite its modest sum (~$30K), it was pivotal for my research and securing further funding. Fast forward to 2024, LLL once again believed in a new idea of mine, uniquely funding it.
This underscores the significant impact of smaller grants by $, especially for *junior faculty*, that can have impact for new ideas. Deep gratitude to LLL for their dedication to leukemia research and their faith in our work in the South over the decades. @MDAndersonNews
