What if a font was created for Vietnamese orthography? I made an example font showcasing the differences. Sorry if it looks weird, I am new to font making.
@GuanMiZhe Some Vietnamese glyphs differ from Traditional Chinese (Taiwan Standard). I find using a font that has inherited glyphs (舊字形) is more accurate like I.Ming and Cactus Classical Serif.
@HocdoD26286 Bạn giải thích vần với thanh điệu như thế nào? Trong lịch sử, ghi là 嗔 hoặc 吀 thì vần là -in hoặc -iên. Sao người xưa ko thể ghi chữ nào có vần -ing/-inh. Hai là thanh điệu khác. Xin là 平聲 thì sao từ 上聲 biến đổi như thế nào?

@ZevHandel@edwardW2@gyankotsu@egasmb Yes, most of the texts I have come across are most likely to be written in 19-20th century and in the Vietnamese southern dialect.
In Vietnamese, the character 自 has one reading tự "self"; "from". In chữ Nôm, 自 can also be read as từ "from". Here in this fully Literary Chinese passage, we can see that the glosser read it as vernacular từ by marking it with a tonal mark (꜀, 平聲).
