It took me a couple of days to read the latest @UN Commission of Inquiry's report on how Israel is deliberately targeting Palestinian children. I had to stop, again and again, just to breathe. The level of devastation, the detail, the evidence, it is overwhelming.
The findings are devastating and unequivocal: Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in #Gaza, and war crimes in the occupied West Bank.
At @Amnesty, we documented the genocide in Gaza in our report published in December 2024, and more recently detailed evidence of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. We know the patterns. We have exposed the atrocities. Yet reading this report still shakes you to the core. It goes deeper into the intent, into the systematic nature of the violence, into the unbearable reality that children themselves are being targeted.
This is not collateral damage. This is not incidental. This is deliberate. Children, killed, maimed, traumatized, deprived not only of safety, but of any possibility of a future. Entire generations being erased in plain sight.
How much more evidence does the world need? How many more reports must confirm what is already undeniable?
Governments cannot continue to look away. Silence and inaction, in this moment, are complicity.
This must end. Israel must be held fully accountable.

For all his serious failings at home and abroad, history will most remember Keir Starmer as an enthusiastic participant in the Axis of Genocide. His direct complicity in the genocide in Palestine and his brutal repression of human rights defenders protesting the genocide in the UK will define his legacy forever. His departure from office is only the first step toward justice. Now let him answer for his crimes in a court of law.
BREAKING: Justice Jeremy Johnson has ruled that the Filton 4 will be sentenced as terrorists – even though two juries refused to convict them of violence charges over their efforts to disable an Israeli factory in the UK making killer drones for use in Gaza. They were found guilty of a minor charge of criminal damage.
Judge Johnson kept the jury in the dark of his plans to sentence the four as terrorists. This is the first time in British legal history that anyone has been sentenced as a terrorist for damaging property. It's a very dark moment in an increasingly authoritarian Britain.
Thousands of legal professionals complained about Johnson's clear abuses of legal procedures to help the government's case for proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist group.
Johnson has now proved this was always a show trial.
I explain how he rigged the two trials here: https://t.co/fXTkUAmIvh
Gut wrenching to see four young people jailed for direct action against an arms supplier to Israel.
Years in prison for protesting to save lives in Gaza, with 'terrorism' used despite no jury convicting them of it.
A truly dangerous attack on the right to protest.
A fragile arrangement had been reached in Lebanon. Iran had made clear that if Israel continued to strike Lebanon, it would strike at Israel.
The US/Israeli side says that overnight, Hezbollah killed 15 Israeli soldiers. A violation of the arrangement in their view, and a sign that Iran either didn't or couldn't control Hezbollah.
At the same time, Israel knew that renewed attacks on Beirut, particularly Dahieh, would either force Tehran to attack or back down, while having the added benefit of further weakening US-Iran diplomacy.
Iran did not back down. An attack on Dahieh, according to the Iranians, is designed to kill as many senior Hezbollah and Iranian officials as possible. So a response was inevitable, in their view.
By now, four waves of missiles have been fired at northern Israel, Haifa, and other areas. Some of the missiles are of higher quality than the ones Iran used during the war.
Israel will strike Iran within the next few hours, and the Iranians don't have any other expectation.
Whether the US enters the fighting actively as well, or only provides support for Israel, is the big question mark right now.
The US side is deeply frustrated that the MOU has not been signed yet and accuses the Iranians of either playing for time, overnegotiating, or being incapable of getting to yes.
The Iranians, in turn, accuse the US of constantly changing the parameters while being unwilling to release a portion of Iran's frozen assets at the outset of the MOU as a way to prove their seriousness.
If Trump doesn't enter the war, he will be accused of abandoning Israel. If he enters the war, he will validate that Israel has an effective veto on the negotiations and on whether the US is at war or not.
A true America First policy would have worked to extricate the US from the Israeli-Iranian rivalry.
Now more than ever, it should be clear why such an exit serves US interest.
i think this was an interesting conversation, kind liberals cont to make optics arguments that center the feelings of ppl w sympathies to the state that has conducted industrial mass slaughter & maintains an apartheid. the purpose of holocaust scholarship is to never let it happen again. its to be used as a comparison to stop it from happening now. that's why i do not shy away from making the comparison as a warning.
It is clear from our UK Index that Britain is entering what will almost certainly be a period of great international instability and challenge in a condition of precarious fragility and extraordinary exposure to systemic shocks, both internal and external. https://t.co/7p8pcSHRKc
Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

"Nations committing genocide don't recognize it in real time:" Yuli Novak, Executive Director of B'Tselem, joins this week's edition of the @haaretzcom Podcast to discuss Israel's moral crisis, the government's "propaganda machine," and the hotly debated New York Times article about sexual abuse of Palestinians.

We're going to have to repeat a lot that many Jewish people don't support Israel's genocide.
Criticism of the Israeli Government and their war crimes has nothing to do with who is or isn't Jewish.
To conflate them like this is both harmful and antisemitic.
One striking observation from our UK Index of Systemic Trends is the extent to which our politics is organised around the pursuit of a chimera—the chimera of economic growth.
The IDF has been accused of horrific war crimes in Gaza by the UN Human Rights Council & Amnesty International.
It is just common sense that those involved in war crimes should be held to account.
Amazing! The House just passed a War Powers Act resolution to end the Iran war! It must now go to the Senate, but it won't need a signature from Trump.
This is the furthest any WPR has gone against the Iran war!
A major defeat for those who wish to continue the war, although it doesn't automatically force Trump's hand.
Several Republicans broke with Trump to get this passed:
Massie,
Fitpatrick,
Davidson, and
Barrett.
Several organizations deserve massive credit for this key win:

This is what this scumbag said when Sarah Everard was kidnapped, raped and murdered by a WHITE police officer.
Today, for the killing of Henry Novak by a Brown Sikh man, he calls the British public to "rage".
It’s begun: The Great Rewriting of History by the politicians, journalists, media commentators who stayed quiet over Gaza to keep climbing the greasy pole - while a handful of us who spoke-up were smeared, abused, or fired.
As @Hamza_a96 says, don’t let them do it:
Immediately after occupying East Jerusalem in 1967, Israel annexed about 70,000 dunam (1 dunam = 0.1 hectares) from the West Bank to its territory in violation of international law. Parts of this area were added to Jerusalem’s municipal boundaries.
One third of the annexed territory was used to build settlements expressly designed to secure a Jewish majority and create a contiguous territorial bloc, while pushing Palestinian communities out of the urban space.
The Silwan area, located near the Old City, is home to about 20,000 Palestinians who suffer from systemic, criminal neglect in terms of public infrastructure and services the Jerusalem Municipality is obligated to provide: Many streets are unpaved, waste is left to pile up in the streets, and street lighting is limited.
On top of this neglect, residents face daily harassment and violence by both Israeli security forces and settlers.
Right now, about 1,800 Silwan residents are being forced out of their homes, which Israel is granting to settler families. This follows the past two years in which hundreds have already been uprooted and left homeless, as their houses are being demolished to make way for a national park and a parking lot.
Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing in East Jerusalem through discriminatory legislation, planning procedures, funding allocations and service provision, all designed to advance the Judaization of the area.
