BREAKING: Catalan Government Invites IPOB to National Day Celebrations and Liaison Office Inauguration in Barcelona

The Government of Catalonia has extended an official invitation to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), marking a significant moment in the growing international solidarity between Catalan and Biafran self-determination movements.

According to a statement issued by Mazi Austin Agbanyim, IPOB European Representative, the invitation includes participation in two key events scheduled for September 2026 in Barcelona.

Event 1: Catalonia National Day (La Diada)
Date: Friday, 11th September 2026

Event 2: IPOB Liaison Office Inauguration
Date: Saturday, 12th September 2026

Catalonia’s National Day, known as La Diada, commemorates the fall of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714 and serves as a major annual expression of Catalan identity and aspirations for greater autonomy or independence. IPOB has previously participated in or expressed solidarity with these celebrations, viewing them as aligned with their own campaign for Biafran self-determination.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), currently led by DOS under Chika Edoziem, is a movement advocating for the independence of the Republic of Biafra. IPOB maintains a huge diaspora presence in Europe and has been active in building international alliances.

The planned inauguration of an IPOB Liaison Office in Barcelona is expected to strengthen the movement’s organizational footprint in Europe and facilitate closer coordination with sympathetic regional governments and movements.

This invitation highlights growing transnational links between various European and Biafran self-determination causes. While details remain limited at this stage, the events are anticipated to draw significant participation from the global Biafran community. Further information on exact timings, protocols, and guest lists is expected in the coming weeks.

IPOB members have been encouraged to coordinate through their regional structures for travel and logistical arrangements.

A DAY OF HONOUR, ENCOMIUMS, AND GLOBAL RECOGNITION

Life occasionally presents moments that transcend personal accomplishment and serve as profound reminders that diligence, integrity, consistency, and selfless service to humanity never go unnoticed. Such moments strengthen one’s resolve to remain committed to noble ideals and purposeful service.

Receiving the notification of my nomination and eventual selection as the Law Personality of the Year 2026 by the Eminent Man of the Year Awards was both humbling and deeply gratifying. While I appreciated the significance of the honour, I scarcely anticipated the remarkable grandeur and global outlook of the event held on 28th June, 2026.

Despite my demanding professional engagements, I considered it a duty to honour the invitation in person. I therefore travelled to Lagos, where I was warmly received and treated with exceptional kindness by friends and associates whose generosity made the occasion even more memorable.

The colourful ceremony, meticulously organised by Rtn. Uchenna Chizoba, Chief Executive Officer of Eminent International Media World Limited, brought together eminent personalities, accomplished professionals, captains of industry, distinguished entrepreneurs, public office holders, and other notable Nigerians whose contributions to nation-building and humanity were celebrated.

The defining moment of the evening came with my announcement as the Law Personality of the Year 2026. It was a deeply humbling experience and a reassuring affirmation that steadfast commitment to justice, the rule of law, the defence of fundamental rights, and service to humanity continues to receive meaningful recognition.

I sincerely express my profound appreciation to the organisers of the Eminent Man of the Year Awards, especially Rtn. Uchenna Chizoba and his dedicated team, for finding me worthy of this prestigious honour. I receive this recognition with immense gratitude and an even greater sense of responsibility.

This award is not the culmination of a journey but a renewed call to greater service. By the special grace of God, I shall remain steadfast in deploying the instrumentality of the law to defend the oppressed, protect the vulnerable, uphold justice, and advance the cause of humanity.

I am equally grateful to my friends, colleagues, associates, and numerous well-wishers who travelled from different locations to celebrate with me. Your presence, encouragement, and goodwill added immeasurable colour and significance to the occasion. To everyone who has continually believed in me, prayed for me, and stood by me over the years, this honour belongs to all of us.

Above all, I return all honour, glory, praise, and adoration to Almighty God, the Author and Finisher of my faith, whose abundant grace, wisdom, strength, and favour have made every accomplishment possible.

To Him alone be all the glory, now and always. Amen.
