@NBCSportsSoccer - you know the worst part about being in the UK to see a match? Waking up and not having football on until the afternoon. How do the Brits do it?
@OliverCowd When I was still in the church I justified the “copy and paste” behavior as the Light of Christ come if through other congregations that early leadership recognized as restored truths and practices. Similar to the apologist stance on explains Temple vs. Masons
@OliverCowd Sorry - not “Second (Greatest) Amendment”, it’s second great awakening. A lot of the “divine” practices and revelations were actually common practices among churches emerging during the 2GA.
@Swilua@jaredeborn It’s not surprising given church history : 1896 - caved to US GOVT, 1978 - caved to not being sure what to do in Brazil and growing equal rights sentiment in the US, 2008 - caved to church policy in CA, 2018 - umm, so we are rebranding as “not Mormons”.
@Swilua@jaredeborn It feels like in the last decade there as been a paradigm shift towards wanting to be mainstream so they can fix Christianities problems from inside the tent.
It also feels good to be wanted, so if act more evangelical then the evangelicals will want them. 🤷♂️
@AnneMarron @MrBeecher @whitecatprophcy I know - and this is just a thought that pops into my head in the moment as I strategize around a stressful situation. I guess in my mind, growing up, if you “earned blessings” then you also “earned trials”
@Swilua@jaredeborn Doesn’t help that there is a non-Jesus statue on the majority of temples. I’ve noticed new renderings are starting to remove the Angel Moroni from temple designs ie Anchorage AK
@whitecatprophcy Not really “low-key” but that’s what happens when you read the prompt you want, not the prompt that was given. Wish I would’ve had the spirit to help me discern the true question. . .
@FormerBish During the second great awakening abstention from alcohol was a come theme so it was adherence to God’s Laws, but from the wrong church lol. A lot of “unique” LDS beliefs and traditions were heavily influenced by the SGA
