No sounds in the vacuum of space? NASA scientists have found a spinning black hole creating pressure waves in a surrounding gas cloud and have converted them into a frequency range that the human ear can hear... https://t.co/1EpknV00SU

Did you know that RASC designates Dark-Sky Sites across Canada? There are three types of Dark-Sky Sites: Dark-Sky Preserves, Nocturnal Preserves, and Urban Star Parks. Have you ever visited a RASC Dark-Sky Site?

At 10:08:49 UTC this morning the RAO's #GlobalMeteorNetwork camera caught this amazing, double exploding meteor. The gif shows it in real time first, then frame by frame so you can see all the action. You're looking almost straight south of the observatory. Anybody see it by eye?
"Shantanu Basu & Arpan Das, @WesternU Department of #Physics & #Astronomy developed an explanation for the observed distribution of supermassive black hole masses and luminosities, for which there was previously no scientific explanation." https://t.co/EsjhHp8AHv
WOW! Dans cette vidéo, on franchit 2000 années-lumière jusqu’à la nébuleuse de l’Anneau austral – image de @nasawebb. Le FGS canadien a permis au télescope de garder la cible bien stable dans sa mire.

Throw Back Thursday (TBT) memories of a spectacular auroral display seen at the Algonquin Radio Observatory 6 years ago on Canada Day (Night). I can't think of a better way to celebrate the occasion! Does anyone know if the telescope is still being used for scientific research?
Happy #MoonDay!
Did you know Hubble has observed our Moon? Here’s a shot of the crater Copernicus.

In a new study, led by @WesternU researcher, Genaro Suárez "data from NASA’s now-retired Spitzer Space Telescope was used to determine the conditions under which silicate clouds form on distant exoplanets outside of our solar system." https://t.co/Xh0WVoX4Cr
JWST images are more than just pretty pictures! The data they contain help us better understand the processes that have created these amazing objects. Brian Murphy (U of Edinburgh) has added graphics to highlight some of we know about these objects & what can be seen in the pics.
Alright, so I couldn't make my huge live @NASAWebb debut quite the way we planned it, but this detection and how BEAUTIFUL the NIRISS data is truly remarkable.
And this is only the start!!!
