2018 ulcerative colitis.
2019 fibromyalgia.
Chronic illness is bullshit so let's all complain together 🌟(please stop hitting on me, I'm not here for that)🌟
100%. I don't need more health issues, & it's likely that COVID would fuck me up
I want to live
I want to go back to pre-2020
I miss my friends
But none of this is worth endangering my health, possibly dying
#CovidIsntOver#Covid#CovidIsNotOver#Immunocompromised#Disabled
I heard someone refer to being covid cautious in 2023 as “playing the long game.”
That’s exactly what it is.
Yes, it’s rough to miss out while we watch others move on but not everything is always as it appears anyways.
[Ableist slur used against OP mentioned]
The right to wear PPE, folks. We're fighting for the right to wear masks now. The bar is the floor and we're still under the basement.
This is just example number infinity that disabled people have tried to tell you would happen.
@BlackIncBooks @oshergunsberg I'm 30
I'm only now going thru the process for autism&ADHD diagnoses
I don't have formal ones, but that doesn't make me any less autistic, ADHD, or neurodivergent
This sticks a label on what's already there
Getting a diagnosis is hard for anyone not cis AMAB/acting like Rain Man
@DrAshleyDenmark I am so, so sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl. No parent should ever have to go through what you have.
I am so sorry that the healthcare system failed you so appallingly. It is absolutely disgusting. I'm so sorry that yt doctors didn't listen.
💔

Too often, POC needs are not met. Too often, this is fatal
POC parents should not have to pick up the slack from yt drs. This is disgraceful
Healthcare is a human right! Affordable, easily accessible healthcare that LISTENS is essential!

My daughter Vivian died
My heart is broken
👩🏼⚕️👨🏼⚕️ never listened to me ….
👩🏾⚕️I had to do my own research & discovered that she had #EDS#MCAS that required a different treatment plan.
The U.S. medical system is biased + broken #WeDeserveBetter#VivianMonroeStrong 🌈🌈🌈#Forever5
Read through this thread. This is what families of colour experience when police are involved. They're lucky they all survived. We know the track record for LEOs and POC.

Hi.
Disabled (including immunocompromised) people don't feel left behind by your pandemic ableism.
We. Have. Been. Removed. From. Public. Life.
That's not a feeling. That's a fact.
And we have feelings about the fact.
I constantly joke that I'm so high maintenance, I'm a full-time job.
Managing my health IS my full-time job, but worse. I get no weekends or holidays. I can't stick it with a babysitter for a night off. I am my own nurse, admin, and more
#ChronicIllness#ChronicPain#Disability
This! I lost my dream career.
I had my dream job & I loved going to work every day. I went early, stayed late & loved every second
I'd rather be working than spending all my time managing my health. It sucks. I'm not a lady of leisure, I'm my own nurse
#Disability#ChronicIllness
Please know that if someone can't work due to a chronic illness or disability that's not a good thing. It's not living your best life and enjoying your free time. It's actually giving up on career dreams and having no financial stability. Please don't glorify it because it sucks.
As an immunocompromised human, the pandemic still has a huge influence on my life.
Sure, we all have COVID fatigue, but COVID doesn't go away just because you're sick of it.
Here’s a short list of what I’ve lost since acquiring a chronic illness.
My business
My family
My friends.
My dog
My home
My autonomy
But all that ‘attention’ I get has more than made up for it!
Look at me, jet setting from bed to bathroom!
Paying my bills with likes!
Also? Stop praising people for openly using accessibility tools.
Yes, masks are accessibility tools.
Stop praising disabled people for wanting to survive.
