During the short lived independence of Biafra, from 1967-1970 they made series of interesting invention which is a testament of Africa's resilience in the midst of adversities:

Under intense bombardment of Russian and Egyptian pilots , Biafran engineers under the research and production agency (RAP) produced Africa's first rocket system, named the flying ogbunigwe.

Biafran researchers also processed palm oil and palm kernels through chemical refining/distillation to produce petroleum-like fuels during the Civil War.

Necessity begot ingenuity.
