Very happy that Javi and Rakesh's paper has finally come out in @NatureChemistry (link in reply). We use DNA nanotechnology to implement a synthetic molecular templating system - a minimal analog of the processes that are crucial to assembling complex proteins in the cell.
We're hiring! We have a lab-based PhD position available for UK nationals (supported by DSTL) on persistent computation for sense and record applications: https://t.co/1yKjmTulHN

Happy to announce the line-up for the 2024 Wellcome Trust Synthetic Biology for Health and Sustainability Conference in Cambridge, UK on 21–23 October. https://t.co/jejHTcfZjT | What an exciting line-up. Hope you can join us!
Congratulations to Dr Annalise Zouein for successfully defending her PhD today on DNA and RNA based control of mammalian gene expression. Anna was supervised by the brilliant @ceronifranci and was one of Imperial’s first @BioDesignEngCDT students. Very proud of her!
Very pleased to see two of our papers come out today. First, Alicia's work on the use of light-up fluorescent RNA aptamers in synthetic biology, a collaboration with @LedesmaAmaro in @IC_CSynBio :
Congratulations to Francesca Smith, who has posted her article "Strong sequence dependence in RNA/DNA hybrid strand displacement kinetics".

Some exciting news - we're looking for a postdoc with experience in experimental chemistry/molecular biology/DNA nanotechnology to work on novel mechanisms for molecular templating in synthetic systems. We are looking to emulate the most important class of process in nature.
We have a fully funded 2023 entry CDT studentship available: MRes at @IC_CSynbBio followed by 3yr PhD at @UoMMIB with @Micklefield_Lab Engineering microbial cell factories for production of improved anti-infectives. Info here https://t.co/whIPQVsufS Deadline Monday 17th July!
Exciting synbio seminar tomorrow! 🧬🧬🧬

My main takeaway though is that she became a Tory, despite a grim early life in Liverpool, because Thatcher gave her family the right to buy their council flat.
What would be the equivalent rationale for a young, upwardly mobile woman now? I can't think of anything.
