#Robotic#Revisional#BariatricSurgery had longer operative duration & higher rates of some complications. Robotic is likely less cost-effective with no clear patient safety benefit, particularly for sleeve gastrectomy cases @SurgEndosc 2020 Acevedo et al @IfsoSecretariat@ASMBS
Thank you @Ali_Aminian_MD for sharing this important RCT.
This is the second 5 year multi-center RCT to show that the use of mesh for PEHR is not beneficial here is the 1st RCT 👇https://t.co/5MORAHnelA
Several reports shows that mesh at the hiatus even absorbable has risks !
🏅THE "BEST VCR OF THE MONTH" 🏅of the AUGUST issue of Obesity Surgery is:
“Endoscopic Tunneled Stricturotomy with Full-Thickness Dissection in the Management of a Sleeve Gastrectomy Stenosis”

Thank you @PhillySurgeon 1 yr outcomes of this triple blind RCT adds to the evidence that RYGB is superior to Sleeve gastrectomy in T2DM.
BPD & OADB are even more effective but at the cost of more nutritional deficiencies.
It appears that the best risk/benefit ratio is RYGB
Fellow #bariatric & #metabolic#surgeons who struggle with #weight#regain after #RYGB:
1. What is TALL in #gastricbypass (Roux or OAGB)?
2. What is Sugerman type 1 distalization?
3. Is it true that RYGB, BPD & BPD/DS are all RYGB?
Food for thought👇👇

Please help us understand the real practice of #OAGB world-wide especially after the recent #YOMEGA trial. When we did a similar survey @IFSOMENAC we were surprised by the variability of technique and the reaponse of our surgeons. Take the #survey even if you don’t perform #OAGB
Last question at the @ObesityMedicine review course. Can you guess the answer? Is Obesity care the only specialty held to this standard of cost effectiveness? #ow2019#asmbs@ASMBS
Will be released today at @ASMBS#ASMBS2019#OW2019
Optimized management in patients with type 2 #diabetes should consider the likelihood of end-organ complications and mortality.
Another pearl from the #SOS@ObesityWeek Top paper I #OW2019#baritricsurgery is cost effective, more cost effective in #type2diabete patients especially in their 1st year of diagnosis. Look forward to the manuscript👇👇
