📢 Today, ICPAC hosted IDRC and ICPALD to review progress on the Extreme Heat Science and PASSAGE projects.
Key achievements include the development of an extreme heat monitoring and early warning tool for the Greater Horn of Africa and the successful delivery of three cross-border Sub-Regional Climate Outlook Forums (Sub-COFs 3, 4, and 5) serving pastoral communities in the Karamoja, Marsabit–Borana, and Mandera clusters.
Through these forums, seasonal forecasts now reach cross-border communities as co-produced advisories that combine scientific and indigenous knowledge, delivered in local languages to support timely decisions on agriculture, livestock, and early action.
We thank IDRC for its support through the CLARE programme, and ICPALD, the University of Sussex, and all consortium partners for their collaboration in strengthening early warning and anticipatory action for pastoralist livelihoods.
