It’s always touching when former empires forgive each other, for the crimes they committed against everyone else.
Australia, whose nationhood sits on the mass dispossession of Aboriginal people, and Japan, whose empire left graves across Asia, comforting each other about “guilt” is not compassion, it’s amnesia performing as virtue.
A country built on a frontier genocide telling another country responsible for Nanjing, Manila, and Unit 731, “I forgive you,” is less reconciliation and more an empire-to-empire absolution ritual.
And notice who is conveniently excluded:
Chinese, the Koreans, Pacific Islanders, Southeast Asians... the people who actually carried the body counts.
When perpetrators forgive perpetrators, it’s never justice.
It’s just history washing itself clean in the same basin.
From the perspective of victims, your “forgiveness” was never yours to give.
@lazaro45ive It's not only high-tech, it's more Cyberpunk, aka high tech low life. More likely appear in somewhere colonized. So America (or at least one state of America) I guess?
@harukaawake You are saying "Japan is small so Japan should get more lands from its neighbours"?
First of all, Japan is not small.
Secondly, no way. Don't dare to try.
@FoxProMAGA@nxt888 The US help China fighting against China. The US help Korea fighting against Korea. The US help Vietnam fighting against Vietnam.
- Just curious, when will the US help America fighting against America?
@KirstenDrysdale@internetarchive Thx.
This news has long existed on Chinese internet. The magazine 意林 covered this bench in its 22nd issue of 2014, with article titled *带刺的长椅* aka. *Spiked Bench*. In the article, 意林 went out of its way to praise this invention, even calling it the "most humane design".
@ampalsson@thinking_panda Or as you think, the world started at when Russian and Hamas attacked back? The history Ukraine and Israel's killing is missing in your brain?
@ampalsson@thinking_panda Hi Palasson, do you know that Ukraine kept attacking and bombing Ukraine Russuian areas for EIGHT years, before Russia attacked BACK?
@jacksonhinkle A defense system, having faced no real threats or tests other than Hamas's makeshift rockets, spent the past decade boasting itself as the "world's most successful tactical air defense." Until one day, it encountered a *real* attack.
Call me crazy but if I was orbiting the Earth at 17,500mph in Zero Gravity surrounded complex computers…..
I probably wouldn’t risk an unconcealed glass of water resting on the table. Apparently it’s strapped down with velcro.
Please take all the time you need.
