The heinious act of terror attack on tourist in pahalgam of Jammu & Kashmir is highly condemnable and heart wrenching. We pay homage to deceased and pray for early recovery of the injured in this attack. This is an attack on the unity and integrity of our nation. All political parties and associations should rise above their differences and condemn this terror act. Government should ensure all required relief and assistance to the affected families and ensure appropriate punishment for the people responsible for this attack.

DELIMITATION PROCESS

The policy to increase parliamentary and assembly seats is a welcome step. However, conducting delimitation based on the latest census, which allocates seats according to population, is unacceptable. In our state Manipur, this approach will unfairly VICTIMIZE communities that have followed the government's small-family policy for the nation's economic and educational development while rewarding those who have disregarded it --- similar points made by the Tamilnadu CM is enclosed below for ready reference.

As per the 1971 Census, the Meetei population constituted at least 60% of Manipur. However, due to unchecked migration and demographic shifts, this has now declined to approximately 44% - a significant reduction of 16% over the last three to four decades.

To ensure a fair and just delimitation process, we strongly demand that it be conducted in Manipur only :

1. After the Meeteis are included in the list of Scheduled Tribes of the constitution; and
2. After the National Register of Citizens (NRC) has been fully updated. This is essential to prevent the dilution of indigenous representation and uphold the democratic rights of legitimate citizens.
