Des images exclusives révélées par notre partenaire @AnimalsAus, tournées dans un laboratoire britannique travaillant pour des clients européens, montrent une réalité sur laquelle beaucoup préfèrent fermer les yeux.

Alors que ce sont des animaux actifs et profondément sociaux, les lapins figurent à la deuxième place des animaux les plus utilisés en France dans le cadre de l’expérimentation animale. En 2024, sur les 2 041 157 animaux utilisés, 160 573 étaient des lapins.

Les procédures qu’ils endurent sont d’une violence réelle et conduisent encore trop souvent à une mort certaine.

Privés de toute vie sociale, ces animaux sont confinés individuellement dans des cages exiguës où ils attendent de savoir le sort qui leur sera réservé. Les lapines gestantes, par exemple, sont entièrement immobilisées dans des conteneurs en plastique afin que les substances toxiques testées leur soient injectées par perfusion.

Une pareille violence ne peut et ne doit plus être ni acceptée, ni acceptable. Une prise de conscience collective doit s’opérer rapidement afin que toutes ces vies ne soient plus sacrifiées pour des résultats scientifiques pour la plupart incertains.

La Fondation Brigitte Bardot appelle à nouveau le @gouvernementFR à présenter une stratégie ambitieuse et réaliste pour mettre fin à ces souffrances, en apportant un soutien financier réel au développement de méthodes alternatives. Nous attendons toujours une réponse du Ministre de la recherche à nos interpellations !
