It’s interesting that Jaylen Brown had less estimated wins than Dyson or NAW. He played a handful fewer games, but still not what you’d expect given the MVP shouts. My read is there’s a price where the Hawks would take him, but they won’t pay a lot (i.e., they won’t give #8).
Trae Young says his move from Atlanta wasn’t really a surprise because he saw it coming long before it happened.
“the draft-night trade was definitely more shocking”
“i knew this last trade could happen if we didn’t come out of the season playing well”
“when i got hurt and hurt my MCL, i could feel the energy around the building change”
“i’d been there almost eight years and it had never felt like that before”
“my agent and the front office were already talking”
“i just wanted to leave the right way because i’ll never hate Atlanta… it’ll always be my second home”
“what surprised me was seeing reports linking me to Washington”
“i wanted people to know that was somewhere i wanted to go”
“i didn’t want it to look like they just shipped me there”
“the second trade wasn’t really a shock… we worked together to get me where i wanted to be”
The lineup of CJ, NAW, Dys, JJ, and OO was one of the most reliable lineups in the league. It ranked 1st in defensive rating, 4th in offensive rating, and 2nd in overall net rating ⚡️ @GeorgiaPower
Trae Young says he wishes he never played it safe when he injured his ankle against the Bucks in 2021 and says had they beaten them, they’d win the championship.
"If I knew what I know now, I would have played through my sprained ankle. My agents were telling me not to play… We were two games away from going to the finals. We had beaten the Suns twice that year. You never know when that opportunity is going to come again."
"That's one thing that breaks me. I wish I would have just triple-taped it, put the ankle brace on top, and played through that pain." 🥲

Standing firm that the Hawks absolutely should not part with any of
- Jalen Johnson
- Dyson Daniels
- Nickeil Alexander-Walker
in a trade for Jaylen Brown.
Don’t think that’s an unpopular take.
If the Hawks go Mara at 8 and don’t get a guard they like at 23, first two calls I’m making are to Houston and Portland
See if you can buy low on Reed/Scoot
Trae Young:
“This is the most slept on I’ve been in my whole life… Imagine the Wizards as the No. 1 team in the East next year. What people gonna be saying?”

Latest intel on Atlanta:
• Both Keaton Wagler and Mikel Brown Jr. are guards the Hawks are said to be high on.
• Mara remains a player Atlanta likes, but league sources continue to indicate the Hawks are leaning toward selecting a guard to solidify their backcourt long-term
• The Hawks are expected to pursue Isaiah Hartenstein if the Thunder decline his team option, making him an unrestricted free agent.
👀 Looks like Zaccharie Risacher is putting in serious work this offseason.
The talent has always been there. The question now is: could this be the breakout season the Atlanta #Hawks have been waiting for? 🔥🦅🏀
The Atlanta Hawks and head coach Quin Snyder have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, sources tell ESPN. This marks consecutive extensions for Hawks leadership of Snyder and President Onsi Saleh to solidify organizational continuity for team ownership.
Per @JakeLFischer | @TheSteinLine
• Atlanta is viewed as a team that could be active in the center market this offseason. The Hawks recognize the need to strengthen their frontcourt depth behind Onyeka Okongwu.

👀 Atlanta #Hawks forward Jalen Johnson is putting in serious work this offseason.
After already emerging as one of the NBA’s brightest young stars, could another leap be on the way? 🔥🏀
Is the Atlanta Hawks star destined for yet another jump next season? 🦅
AJ Dybantsa says Trae Young will have to give up No. 3 if he’s drafted by the Wizards 😅
“If they draft me, I do need 3, Trae. If they draft me. We’re gonna see in like 5 weeks”
(h/t @NBA__Courtside )
Giving the bottom 3 teams a slight penalty makes sense to me and is something I suggested a few months ago (different solution but same idea)
I do think the new rules are a little bit too drastic in the opposite direction though. Bottom teams being able to fall to 10/11/12 is too far. Don’t think we need the lottery to determine all 16 spots either.
Traded picks being subject to the “no repeat” rules also doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re penalizing teams for making good trades.
Interested to see how this plays out over the next 3 years
Should definitely reduce intentional tanking by a significant margin, which could make the last 2 months of the season much more exciting than usual
More prestigious title, more money, longer contract.
Saleh remains the No. 1 guy on the basketball side as he was before.
Hawks never gave Landry Fields the president role. Last time they had a President of Basketball Ops was Travis Schlenk.
