President @Isaac_Herzog met with U.S. Congressmen @AbrahamHamadeh and @RepStutzman at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.

During their meeting, President Herzog thanked the congressmen for their great friendship and highlighted the importance of bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel partnership. President Herzog commended President @realDonaldTrump’s leadership in confronting Iran's empire of evil.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, President @Isaac_Herzog spoke with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada.

During the call, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the region. Both leaders agreed that Israel has the right to self-defense. President Herzog reiterated that Israel is acting against the threat of terror in accordance with international law and in coordination with regional and international partners.

President Herzog expressed his condemnation of the pro-Hamas flotilla, which directly aimed to undermine UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and its next phase, including the disarmament of Hamas and the establishment of a new government in Gaza. President Herzog insisted on the implementation of the resolution.

President Herzog stressed that while Israel is committed to talks that lead to a future of peace with Lebanon, it cannot accept the repeated attacks on Israel by Hezbollah, Iran’s terror proxy in Lebanon, and will continue to defend itself from this threat.

The two leaders agreed that Iran is a regional and global threat and must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

During the call, President Herzog expressed his deep alarm at the mounting levels of antisemitic violence in Canada, including repeated attacks on synagogues, schools, and Jewish-owned businesses. President Herzog called on Prime Minister Carney and his government to address the growing fear and sense of abandonment among the Canadian Jewish community, and urged the Canadian authorities to learn from recent experiences of antisemitic terror around the world and to work hand in hand with the Jewish community in the fight against antisemitism before it's too late.

The two leaders also discussed the current challenges in the Israel-Canada bilateral relationship, which has historically been so beneficial to both peoples, and the importance of increasing engagement, including in the fields of trade, technology, and climate change, to reinvigorate longstanding relations.

Statement by President @Isaac_Herzog following his call with President Sergio Mattarella of Italy @Quirinale this evening:

I had a very good and wide-ranging conversation this evening with my friend President Mattarella of Italy @Quirinale.

We exchanged views on recent regional developments. During our discussion, I raised my concerns about the extreme anti-Israel — and at times antisemitic — sentiment that has surfaced in parts of Italian public opinion, as reflected in the ongoing harassment of the Israeli pavilion at the Venice Biennale, as well as in protests against the raising of the Jewish Brigade's flags in Milan.

I thanked President Mattarella and the Italian authorities for their principled stance in condemning these attacks and for their efforts to prevent them.

Israel regards Italy as a close friend, and the partnership between our countries serves both our peoples and nations.

President @Isaac_Herzog pays tribute to Abe Foxman, the distinguished Jewish leader and long-time head of the Anti-Defamation League, who died on Sunday:

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Abe Foxman, a legendary leader of the Jewish people, a champion of justice and equality, and a longtime, dear friend of mine.

Coming into a world at war, the Holocaust shaped Abe’s character and defined his mission: Combating antisemitism and hypocrisy, calling out racism and bias, speaking up for the Jewish people and the Jewish democratic Israel. His story, of rising from the ashes, is our story, the story of our people.

Abe’s decades at the helm of the Anti-Defamation League, positioned him as a prominent, distinguished force in the American Jewish community, and a bridge between Israel and the Diaspora. He was a passionate Zionist, a humanist, and an outspoken, wise friend. The affection and the respect we had for one another, enabled us to openly discuss every challenge and every obstacle. I am so grateful for the profound conversations we shared over the years, and for the brave leadership he exemplified.

I will miss Abe’s counsel and voice, and I know that his legacy and his message will live on.

I send my deepest condolences to Abe’s family and loved ones.

במסגרת ביקורו הרשמי של נשיא המדינה יצחק הרצוג בקוסטה ריקה, לרגל טקסי סיום כהונתו של הנשיא רודריגו צ׳אבס רובלס, והשבעתה של הנשיאה הנכנסת לאורה פרננדס דלגאדו - מקיים הנשיא פגישות מדיניות עם מנהיגים ובכירים מרחבי העולם המשתתפים באירועים.

הפגישות נערכות במסגרת שיחות בילטרליות, פגישות רשמיות ומפגשים אישיים, וימשיכו להתקיים גם במהלך היום. בין היתר צפוי הנשיא להיפגש עם המנהיגים הבאים:

נשיא קוסטה ריקה היוצא ונשיאת קוסטה ריקה הנכנסת, מלך ספרד, נשיא צ׳ילה, נשיא גואטמלה, נשיא הונדורס, נשיא פנמה, נשיא הרפובליקה הדומיניקנית, סגנית נשיא אקוודור, סגן נשיא אל סלבדור, ראש ממשלת קורסאו, ראש ממשלת ארובה, וכן שרי חוץ, שרים וראשי פרלמנטים ממדינות רבות - ובהם גם שרת המדינה מאיחוד האמירויות הערביות.

זמן קצר לאחר השבעתה של נשיאת קוסטה ריקה הנכנסת, שתיערך היום, צפויה להתקיים פגישה מדינית ראשונה בינה לבין נשיא המדינה - תהא זו פגישתה הרשמית הראשונה עם כניסתה לתפקיד.

קוסטה ריקה, המארחת את הביקור ואת טקס ההשבעה, נחשבת לידידה קרובה של ישראל. הנשיא היוצא והנשיאה הנכנסת מביעים לאורך השנים עמדה אוהדת כלפי ישראל בזירה הבין-לאומית ונמנים עם תומכיה. בין המדינות מתקיימים קשרי ידידות היסטוריים ושיתוף פעולה ענפים בתחומים המדיני, הכלכלי והטכנולוגי, לצד מחויבות הדדית להעמקת והמשך היחסים.
