Toronto’s International Women’s Day rally this year was equal parts celebration and fierce commitment to struggle.
Bombs are raining down on civilians around the world (including at a girls' school). Here at home, care work is marginalized and under-valued, trans women and girls are under attack, reproductive healthcare is inaccessible for many who live in rural and remote communities.
And the response in the streets is to rise up to demand peace and justice!
In a time of rising austerity, right-wing extremism, and rampant militarism, feminist struggle is the antidote we need.
Happy IWD everyone: see you in the streets!
Unifor Community Chapter, South Asian Women and Immigrant Services take the stage at Toronto’s #IWD2026 rally, using storytelling to demand equity and justice for all.
Show your support for the Toronto International Women’s Day (IWD) Rally and march. Women have been at the forefront of resilience, resistance, and progress, fighting for social and economic justice for women and gender-diverse workers across Ontario. This is a call for participation.
We felt the strength and solidarity at today's International Women's Day march! @cupelocal79 Toronto city workers came out in full force after securing a tentative agreement, leading the march alongside women, allies, and unions. OFL Secretary Treasurer @AhmadGaiedOFL joined thousands from unions, community organizations, and allies-coming together to honour women and defend women's rights at a time when they are increasingly under threat.
