Nissan NV400 sliding side door handle replacement 🔧🚐

In this short video I’m replacing the sliding side door handle on my Nissan NV400 van.

The old handle had failed, so the job was simply:

✅ Remove the old sliding door handle
✅ Check the mechanism
✅ Fit the new replacement handle
✅ Test the side door opens and closes properly again

This is one of those little van jobs that can become very annoying very quickly — especially when you use the side door every day for tools, materials and handyman work.

The NV400 shares a lot of parts with the Renault Master and Vauxhall Movano, so always check fitment before ordering.

Possible part numbers to check against your exact van/side/year include:

• Aftermarket examples: FT94593, EZC-RE-088, METZGER 2310649

Always confirm using your registration/VIN before buying, as left/right side, internal/external handle and model year can vary.

Another full-day decorating job completed 🔧🚐

Today’s 6-hour booking involved a mix of painting, prep work, sanding, filling and careful cutting-in across a three-storey home.

First job was painting the stair banister, which runs up through three floors. I sanded it back, prepped the surface properly, then gave it two coats in a really smart black finish. It completely changed the look of the stairs and gave it a much cleaner, sharper feel.

After that, I moved onto two children’s bedrooms:

✅ Filled holes
✅ Skimmed/levelled small surface imperfections
✅ Sanded and prepped the walls
✅ Cut in neatly around edges
✅ Painted one feature wall in a very light grey
✅ Painted another feature wall in a darker grey

The dark grey wall needed extra care because it was against a white ceiling and lighter surrounding walls, so the cutting-in had to be nice and clean to get a sharp finish.

That’s exactly how my full-day bookings work — customers make a list of jobs, I turn up with the tools, and I work through as much as possible in the booked time.

Bathroom flooring replacement completed today 🔧🚐

Today’s job involved removing old solid wood bathroom flooring, levelling the floor properly, then laying a new one-piece vinyl/lino floor.

This type of flooring is ideal for bathrooms because it comes as one large flexible sheet, meaning fewer joints and much better water resistance compared with flooring made from lots of separate pieces 👍

Once the vinyl was fitted, I silicone sealed around the edges to help prevent water getting underneath and damaging the floor or subfloor in future.

I also managed to get some tiling done while I was there. There wasn’t quite enough time to grout today, but that’s the beauty of how I work — customers make a list of jobs, book me in, and I work through as much as possible in the time booked. Anything left can be carried over to the next visit.

Today’s jobs included:

✅ Removed old bathroom flooring
✅ Levelled/prepped the floor
✅ Fitted new one-piece vinyl/lino
✅ Silicone sealed around the edges
✅ Started tile repair work

What I managed to repair in just 6 hours 🔧🚐

This decking was approximately 7.5m x 3.6m and had major structural rot underneath 😳

The original joists had completely failed due to years of trapped moisture and poor airflow beneath the deck. What looked like a “small repair” turned into replacing around 50% of the structural support system underneath 👌

✅ Lifted half the decking
✅ Installed new pressure-treated structural supports
✅ Added new support posts
✅ Worked around existing drains/infrastructure
✅ Stabilised the worst unsafe areas
✅ Helped give the customer a safer usable deck for the summer 👍

This wasn’t a cosmetic repair — this was full structural problem-solving within a single day 💪

A proper rebuild would still be recommended long-term, but sometimes customers just need an honest, practical short-term solution while planning future work.

🚰 Bathroom sink repair done properly 🔧

Today’s job was replacing TWO faulty bathroom sink plugs — one upstairs and one downstairs 👍

The old push-click mechanisms had completely failed, so the only proper solution was fitting brand new wastes/plugs.

Sounds simple… but these were floating wall-mounted sinks, which means:

✔️ Sink had to be carefully removed from the wall
✔️ Hidden trap & pipework disconnected
✔️ New plug mechanisms fitted correctly
✔️ Everything reassembled & aligned
✔️ Re-sealed with fresh silicone for a clean waterproof finish

A lot more involved than people realise 👌

This was completed in a 3-hour slot ⏱️

Freshened up the back of this house today 🎨
In a 6-hour slot:
✔️ Painted approx. 23m x 2.5m wall (that’s a LOT of surface area 👀)
✔️ Repaired damaged plaster before painting
✔️ Clean, solid finish all the way across
This one had a thatched roof and tired exterior walls, so prep was key — no point painting over poor surfaces. Get the base right, and the finish lasts 👍

✔️ Re-aligned both doors properly
✔️ Adjusted hinges and closing points
✔️ Serviced and restored the locking mechanism
✔️ Fixed the external lock (key now goes in and works smoothly again 🔑)
Over time, weather and use can cause doors to drop, twist, and corrode — but most of the time they can be repaired and brought back to life without replacement 👍
