A letter to staff unions from economists working in the resident coordinator system, blows the whistle on a restructuring that could damage the development pillar and downgrade support to middle income countries, writes Mohammed Chiraz Baly https://t.co/1NS8sbwvDz
@HackedOffHugh The decision to depart without all luggage loaded was that of the captain, possibly under orders from the company. So it wasn’t a surprise on landing
@rorysutherland@john_r_collins They don’t want to lure people away - they still want to fill that plane. However the opportunity cost of losing that seat is not selling a 4k transatlantic ticket from EDI of which there is maybe a 25% chance. Hence the 1k price. Blame slot shortages at LHR for these distortions
@JewishNewsUK Under the Chatham House rule anyone can repeat what was said. They just can’t say who said it. But given there was one speaker it wouldn’t take a genius to figure it out.
@usmissiongeneva Almost all UN travel is economy, like the US. Most staff get no housing assistance while US officials in Geneva receive $85,000 a year minimum. UN staff abroad only receive partial reimbursement of education costs unlike US staff abroad.
@CollinRugg Fact-checked this. The US federal employee retirement system has been digital for some time now and all works fine. No-one has to go down a mine to process a retirement. The mine contains old archives (which hopefully will be digitalised).
@RoryStewartUK Not sure how widely held that view is. The markets adjusted but not by much. Deepseek is still dependent on US hardware and built on open source.
