@LoriDTate@GOP__Ls The corrupt make running for office so incredibly vicious, dirty, and draining, that no sane person wants to go through that, and then if elected, try in vain to make a difference but fail because the overwhelming majority are corrupted by the influence of their donors.
• The $76 million figure is factual: Jefferson Consulting Group, where Susan Collins’ husband Thomas Daffron served as COO from 2006 to 2016, received approximately that amount in federal contracts for acquisition and procurement services, per https://t.co/t6CRUlKO0D data reported in 2020 by Salon and revived in 2026.
@alexg_7426@TheTNHoller It's even legal in some states to run protestors over if they're blocking the road, which has been a non-violent way for civil disobedience since our country's founding. A #GeneralStrike is the only way to go.
@alexg_7426@TheTNHoller#GeneralStrike. They ignore protests & target, persecute, and retaliate against protesters who don't agree w/their ideology. They disappear, jail, & charge protestors exercising their 1st amend rights with crimes inc terrorism. They physically attack them & even unalive them.
Impunity does not only corrupt the state that holds it.
It corrupts the language used to describe the state.
After enough impunity, "self-defense" can mean anything.
After enough impunity, a military offensive that kills tens of thousands of civilians can be described as "the most moral army in the world" operating with "unprecedented care."
After enough impunity, starving a civilian population can be described as a "security measure."
After enough impunity, destroying every university in a territory can be called a "response to military threat."
After enough impunity, the language bends so far that it no longer connects to the reality it is supposed to describe.
And then the debate is no longer about what happened.
The debate is about what words mean.
And the side with the most powerful media ecosystem, the most diplomatic allies, the most institutional presence in the bodies that define international norms, that side wins the word debate.
While losing, in the real world, every argument that depends on anyone looking directly at what is happening.
Rachel Maddow’s description of Juan Sebastian Guerrero killed by ICE in Maine is something you need to see.
She explains what happened without being graphic, and somehow that makes it even more powerful.
Remember Alex, Pretti, and Renée? There have been no prosecutions. Still no justice.
We know how this goes.
Watch it to the end.
@Leokadia4@voiceofrabbis There are some truly disturbing people who hold vile ideologies in Israel & the US. That doesn't mean everyone there is like that. Like in the US, many Jewish people know very little and because of that, they're easy to manipulate. Ignorance and propaganda are true enemies.
@Leokadia4@voiceofrabbis I am not Jewish or Zionist, but I see the pattern that within any group of humans, they aren't all the same. Only extremists see in black and white and are willing to condemn entire groups of people wholesale, for instance all Jewish, all Christians, all Muslims, all Americans.
@Leokadia4@voiceofrabbis I oppose Zionism and those among the Jewish people who people in a nationalistic exceptionalism, but it's not accurate to say that all Jewish people are the same. In fact there are many Jewish people here and in Israel that protest and strive against what Israel is doing.
Donald Trump is at war with our democracy and Georgia is ground zero.
But this is John Lewis’ Georgia. We are not intimidated. We are not moved.
Mr. President, instead of attacking our democracy, why don’t you do something about the high cost of gas, housing, and health care?
@JOANNED39151750@sneemac@jimstewartson Brazilians are sane. Many Americans aren't. They've been brainwashed by decades, even a lifetime of lies & propaganda. The powerful have already tightened the noose so much, that I worry there's no way out. The American people are paying attention and acting too little, too late.
@RedCoreHardCore@jaceghost245@RealCalvin1 They have been & ARE scary. They've allowed greater & greater abuses by those in power. Only now has our technology reached the point to where they can become ubiquitous and enable a dystopian surveillance state since AI can analyze the massive footage & data & deploy responses.
