#WATCH | Churachandpur, Manipur | Young Pillars College Principal and MD, Samuel Haokip, says, "Among the 14 that were abducted, there's a boy named Hengunsei Khongsai, a student of Young Pillars College. He had just completed his class 11 final exams. Now, Hengunsei is still a minor. He's only 16 years of age. He also has a disability and he's essentially an orphan. His mother left him when he was a child and his father passed away this January. Now, his friends have started their class 12 a week ago. He could not come. He's still in Taphou village. He was in Taphou village to earn his fare money, just to come from his village to Lamka... I earnestly appeal to the government at the state and the centre, to all the security agencies and to all right-thinking community leaders across the region. Please put an end to this madness... Let us release all the hostages on all sides, including our boy, Hengunsei Khongsai... On the 14th of May, as I've been given to understand by his family members, Hengunsei Khongsai, along with his friends and village members were earning money as a daily wage labourer. On their way home to their village, they were stopped, in front of Mount Everest College, Senapati, where they were stopped by Senapati District Student Association (SDSA) members. There were also police members present there, security personnel. Instead of protecting Hengunsei Khongsai and his friends and his villagers, the security people have handed over these civilians into the hands of the SDSA... All involved parties, including the SDSA student leaders as well as the police personnel involved in that incident must be investigated and they must be held accountable for whatever happens to Hengunsei Khongsai and the abducted 14 members."

Young Pillars College, located in Churachandpur district, has officially issued a statement confirming that their Class XI student, Hengunsei Khongsai, has reportedly been abducted and held hostage allegedly by SDSA and NSCN (IM).

The school stated that he recently lost his father, is the sole breadwinner of his family and also lives with a physical disability. Despite this, he was allegedly taken away after being pulled down from police custody in Senapati.

When even an educational institution is compelled to publicly plead for the safety of its own student, it lays bare the terrifying collapse of law and order and the utter failure of the authorities to guarantee justice, security, and basic human protection.

@YKhemchandSingh please ensure the immediate and safe release of him and all other hostages without delay. Any further inaction or negligence will only deepen public outrage and raise serious questions about the State’s ability and willingness to protect its own citizens.
