🚨𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍: Roman Molina provides a fresh update on Somali referee Omar Arteh;
🗣️ “Omar obtained a diplomatic passport and traveled directly, only to be stopped, questioned, and so on. They took his phone and tablet from him and haven't returned them to him yet, and he was deported from U.S. soil on a flight headed to Turkey.”
“FIFA issued a statement afterward saying ‘we cannot intervene in countries' immigration procedures,’ but in reality, FIFA did intervene in immigration procedures during the last World Cup in Qatar. But it seems like everything is measured with two different standards.”
“FIFA knows that the U.S. administration does whatever it wants, so we could have imagined they'd say to themselves: ‘Alright, let's play it safe and assign him to officiate matches in Mexico or Canada.’ But no, because FIFA is ruled by sheer incompetence.” 👀🥲
I had a phone call with the Somali international referee, Omar Artan, who is unable to participate in officiating at the 2026 @FIFAcom World Cup, and I shared with him our feelings regarding the challenge he has faced. Omar is a symbol of our people and country's great potential
My brother @twineshots got married and I showed up like the Mc is supposed to do. I had a great time. Congratulations my people.

Yesterday in downtown Kampala, I met a young man who recognized me and asked what I was doing there. He said, “President, you also come down here?”
His question suggested that downtown is a place reserved for a certain category of people and that, somehow, I was too “big” to be there because of my perceived social status. But what social status is that, and of what benefit is it if it disconnects me from reality?
I saw it as a teachable moment.
I asked him why he thought downtown was designed for a particular group of people. Why would anyone, regardless of their social standing, avoid a business hub where thousands of hardworking Ugandans earn an honest living every day?
I reminded him that many of the people he seemed to look down upon are the very anchors of our economy. Beyond the dust, the crowds, and the seemingly chaotic environment, there are individuals who are incredibly successful, people who sleep in mansions, drive some of the most expensive cars, and build thriving businesses. The difference is that they put prestige aside and focus on the work that creates wealth.
Unfortunately, many young people today are drawing inspiration from conmen who dress sharply, occupy high-end hotels, and project an image of success, yet make their money by exploiting those who work hard and legitimately.
I hope he walked away with something valuable to think about.

The @CSBAGUGANDA ED @JuliusMukunda has noted that Uganda’s FY 2026/27 budget is a massive blueprint UGX 84.39 trillion. The economy is projected to grow at 10.4%, driven by commercial oil production launching late 2026. He highlighted the country’s resilience, noting that double-digit growth is achievable, investment in human capital is increasing, and first oil production is drawing closer.
He said stakeholders are not adversaries but partners with shared national goals, calling for prudent public financial management and realistic budget priorities for sustainable development.
He noted that while progress has been achieved, there is still need to address high interest rates, strengthen fiscal discipline, and rationalize non-critical public expenditure to ease pressure on the economy.

Omukungu Francis Kamulegeya does not like titles, yet the launch of his book, And Then What?, quietly brought together some of Uganda’s most influential figures in business, finance, governance and cultural leadership — not because protocol demanded it, but because relationships did.
Unlike many high-profile events dominated by political power, this was different.
The room was filled with CEOs, board chairs, entrepreneurs, lawyers, bankers and corporate leaders — many of them Francis’ friends, peers, protégés and longtime colleagues.
At the centre of it all was myself who did not merely officiate the launch, but sat down with Francis for an honest, deeply reflective conversation about leadership, transition, legacy and purpose.
The evening reminded everyone of something powerful: Titles may command attention, but character, mentorship and impact earn lasting respect.
